Near the end of the war between the Outer Planets Consolidation and the Aenum Republic, the management of Exo Mining Rigs, an OPC corporation, considered switching the production lines used to build warships to civilian vessels. One of the options proposed and subsequently approved was a series of small shuttles with everything needed to survive in the war-torn Border Worlds.

The project, named Icarus by the people of the Consolidation, was the first fully civilian ship to come off the EMR slipways in a long time. Equipped with Exo Autonomous Systems' latest hybrid engines and CET's new generation of weapon systems, the Icarus is capable of surviving even the most difficult conditions, thus becoming a reliable aid to the people of the Consolidation.
