No one gets mad at modders for using copyrighted characters without permission because needing permission for fan content/mods is absurd. No one even gets mad at modders who make alternate versions of the base characters even though it's the same concept. Should they ask Dan Fornace even though modding is part of the game?
Anyone who can't handle an unauthorized variant of their mod is missing the whole point of mod support. Plus most of them have no problem with making romhacks without permission.
They'd rather nearly everything be lost than have a system that gets them slightly less worship. I don't respect an artist who cares more about purism & fame (while using copyrighted characters without permission usually) than they do about users enjoying the art. I only get being mad if they don't give credit but Ketoro does.
The A Hat in Time mod community got decimated by whiny entitled modders. Tons of old mods are unusable because they won't recook 'em but won't let others do it & the lead dev supports their entitlement instead of supporting his broken game.
