Description
Folsom's DC-3 on floats
An aircraft put together by D-ick & Max Folsom after they first became interested in such a plane in the early 80s.
They started a search for a DC-3, when they eventually landed on N130Q. Previously a C-53D Skytrooper, that had been converted to a luxurious DC-3 by L.B Smith Aircraft Group.
The floats were eventually located at a junkyard. 3 whole years later having fixed the plane and floats up, received the necessary tools and a crew. They spent 6 hours putting the floats on the plane, it made its first flight September 5th, 1990.
Unfortunately its floats were removed again in 2004. But after many years of restoration and repairs, the floats were returned back on the plane in mid 2020 and on September 14th, 2024 the worlds only DC-3 on floats took flight again.
