Description
ROLE:
FRONTLINE | BRAWLING | TANKING

DIFFICULTY:
INTERMEDIATE

DESCRIPTION:
Archon is the culmination of my battleship development so far in this game. A frontline battleship fleet centered around BB181 Regal In Flames, escorted by the Frigate FF2046 Command Decision.

Regal In Flames is a Solomon equipped with 450mm guns, a Parallax radar, 4x Firebrand coilgun fighters, and a PD grid consisting of Sarissas and Defenders. She also carries SDM-2s, chaff and flares, as well as an Interrupt jammer and a backup antenna. Internally, she is laid out for redundancy, with dual magazines and CICs as well as a quad drive setup (Whiplash, Dragonfly, 2x Raider). Reinforced thruster nozzles allow her to flank for an extended duration so she can keep pace with the rest of the fleet.

Command Decision is a dedicated anti-craft escort. She carries a Stonewall flak battery, a 120mm Mk62 gun, a Bullseye FCR and a VLS2 filled with Pentagram SDM2s. In the late game, she can be detached from her flagship to contest capture points as needed.

USAGE IN BATTLE:
Carriers have made positioning capital ships near rocks a risky endeavour. Do not be afraid to venture into open space to afford your defences maximum time to engage enemy craft.

Always keep your bow towards the suspected locations of enemy heavy guns. You are sluggish to maneuver, so consideration and gamesense is needed when deploying. Your gun range restricts your impact, you will usually only be able to defend one capture point on your own. Nonetheless, you do not wish to go alone and become isolated from your team.

Operating under gunfire is straightforward: Keep moving, keep firing, keep your bow towards enemies. Any prolonged engagement will likely see you as the victor, assuming you keep at or near the maximum range of your guns and do not let yourself get crossfired.

Respect plasma. Engage ships which fire plasma at you with priority and swap fire frequently between multiple plasma threats to keep their weapons disabled.

If engaged by mass drivers or railguns, find cover immediately and repair your damaged components. Plot an alternate route towards your target.

I like to use my craft as an extension of my ship's point defence envelope. Depending on the seeker combination of enemy CLNs, they can soft- or hardkill containers for yourself or a vitally important friendly asset.

Against carriers, only engage enemy strikes if they come unescorted. Losing your precious Firebrands in a struggle with enemy fighters will not diminish the effect of an enemy carrier's strike.

Oh ya I get the idea. We never know when we need to dislodge a shuttle on a control point while sitting on it haha :D

It's for the very late game possibility that you need to kill or disable a shuttle somewhere, TBH I never use it and actually forgot I had it on there lol.

Ah btw the Fireband's FBU loadout is to counter shuttle and tug rush right?

Yea having something like a S2 SDM/sidearm backpack could be significantly easier indeed. Still I think this build is a good balance between ease of use and introducing the newer players to craft mechanics :3

Thank you a lot! Yes, I tend to make all my fleets I intend to publish with ease of use in mind. I think I will eventually make a second BB fleet which will have no craft backpack, which will make it substantially easier to use for newer players.

Nice build! I think this is a good contender for a BB starter fleet, along with iriS' Hazel Terminus, if we will ever have one for the middies to play with <3
