Hospitaller Class Mod

Description
"... She holds the front line with unwavering tenacity, and what she lacks in raw strength, she makes up for in faith. Her righteous conviction holds enemies at bay, while her orisons of healing and devotion ring clear through the din of battle. Where others would cower, she stands virtuous, rallying all under her banner."

Overview

The Hospitaller is a frontline support hero that excels in healing and defense. Similar to the Crusader, her toolkit is fairly flexible, though more defensively-oriented, and she fits well in ranks 1 or 2 of most lineups. Her primary support skills, Word of Healing and Word of Resolve, include secondary effects that make her invaluable in drawn-out fights versus enemies that inflict heavy damage/stress over time.

Pros:
-High base HP.
-Offers virtue buffs for both self and allies.
-Basic attack allows Hospitaller to attack and move from rank 3.
-Efficient healing from any rank, augmented by several trinket options.
-Dispel Evil offers good utility with marking parties.

Cons:
-Low speed.
-Requires some planning due to three abilities being limited-use.
-Only two abilities usable from rank 4.

Combat Skills

Half-Sword: x o o o | o o x x
Basic melee attack, moves forward 1; increased damage versus Unholy.

Censure: x x o o | o-o x x (3/battle)
Double stun, no damage, marks self for 2 rounds on use.

Heavenly Aura: o-o-o-o (1/battle)
Heals other heroes for 10% max HP; buffs all heroes, reducing damage and stress taken.

Divine Favor: x o o o (1/battle)
Heals self, grants two damage blocks, marks self and buffs virtue chance for remainder of battle; if virtuous, activates a powerful riposte (base stats: 95 accuracy, 5% critical).

Word of Healing: o o o o
Heals target for moderate amount and cures bleed; applies additional heal over time for 1 round.

Dispel Evil: x x o o | o o o o
Ranged attack with reduced damage and increased critical chance, breaks guard and marks target for 3 rounds.

Word of Resolve: x o o o
Increases torchlight, stress heals all other heroes and clears horror; increased stress heal on heroes with less than 50% hp.

Camping Skills

"The Hospitaller excels at healing both body and spirit. With a gentle touch, diseases and injuries are cast off, and with a kind word, the flames of courage are rekindled once more. Under her vigil, even the darkest of caverns can become holy ground where enemies dare not tread."

Lay on Hands: self and ally, 4 pts
Removes blight and disease from both self and ally, heals ally for 25% HP.

Holy Sword: self only, 2 pts
Grants +10 acc and 50% armor piercing for 4 battles, stress heals by 15.

Consecration: all allies, 4 pts
Prevents nighttime ambush, stress heals allies by 10.

Eternal Flame: ally, 3 pts
Removes mortality debuffs, grants +15% max HP and +15% virtue chance for 4 battles; stress heals ally by 15 if afflicted.

Class Trinkets

The Hospitaller's trinkets mainly amplify her healing and stress healing skills, as well as bolstering her defensive abilities through guarding, prot buffs, and damage reflection.

Votive Charm: +5% virtue chance

Weathered Prayerbook: +15% stress skills, +20% stress heal received while camping, -2 speed

Chaplain's Orders: +20% healing skills, -15% damage dealt, Word of Healing guards target (2 rounds), +20% prot while guarding

Paladin's Ring: +2 speed, +10% prot when in rank 2, +20% prot when in rank 1

Dried Wildflowers (Crimson Court): +25% healing skills, +20% stress skills (set bonus: +2 speed, +25% virtue chance)

New Generic Trinket

The Oriflamme ("Golden Flame") was the legendary banner of King Charlemagne in the Middle Ages. In the world of Darkest Dungeon, it is an item well-suited to any hero that leads from the front and heals stress (such as the Crusader, Leper, and, of course, the Hospitaller).

l'Oriflamme: +15% stress skills if torch above 75, +15% stress skills if in rank 1, +10% virtue chance if torch above 75, +10% virtue chance if in rank 1

New Quirks

Over the course of their adventures, heroes may find themselves with two new quirks related to the Hospitaller's abilities.

Disciple: increases incoming healing from Word of Healing.

Votary: increases incoming stress healing from Word of Resolve.

Additional Information

The Hospitaller is religious, and gains bonuses from the Altar of Light district.
Critical hit effect: buffs all allies (excluding self) with +10% virtue chance for two rounds.
Passive effect: stress heals herself by 3 whenever healed to full HP.
Canon name is Bradamante.

Technical/Compatibility Notes

This mod is not currently compatible with the "Female Crusader" class mods due to overlapping internal filenames/IDs. No known issues with other mods.

(She is 100% compatible with the Chaplain, since many people have asked!)

Note that if the Hospitaller is Virtuous while Divine Favor is active, you will not see the usual riposte icon appear, but the riposte itself will function normally.

Canon name is Bradamante, who was a female knight from the Renaissance poems "Orlando Innamorato" and "Orlando Furioso."

What this characters canon name?

I have no idea how character Art Mod works. But man I'd love a skin mod for Hospitaller.

The roster portrait of versions A and C have a helmet with the visor lifted, while versions B and D have no helmet at all.
Police officer Bob 14 Jun @ 12:50am
Awesome, thanks.

Added an unhelmeted roster portrait version of both skins, using her camping sprite, that's about all I can do.
Police officer Bob 13 Jun @ 11:09pm
Any way of getting a slighty different helmet for her, to avoid confusion with crusader when choosing her from our roster?

@Dragonhero Half-Sword uses the same sfx as the Crusader's Smite, but I may tweak the volume level by half a decibal or so with the next update. Thanks for the feedback!

On a side note. Some skills could use a change of audio. Like half sword for example. Sounds underwhelming. Maybe the sfx from the highwayman skill ''duelist's Advance'' would be a better alternative?

Pretty cool mod. Like the character design.
