PRR H10s

Description
The PRR H10s (2-8-0 "Consolidation" type) were steam locomotives built by the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) from 1916 to 1957. These locomotives were the last of the PRR's 2-8-0 class H locomotives, each subsequent class (H8, H9s) increasing the cylinder diameter by an inch. The H10s were particularly known for their use in light freight service and were a standard for the railroad, even replacing other class H 2-8-0s.
Here's a more detailed look at their history:
Construction and Service:
Design:
The H10s were a type of "2-8-0 Consolidation" steam locomotive, meaning they had two leading and eight driving wheels.
Production:
273 H10s were built between 1916 and the end of steam operations on the PRR.
Service:
They were primarily used in light freight service, becoming the standard for that type of work, and remained in service until the end of PRR steam locomotive operations in 1957.
Replacement:
The H10s eventually became less common as 2-8-2s and 2-10-0s were used for heavier freight assignments.
Notable Features:
Belpaire Firebox: All H10s featured the Pennsy's signature Belpaire firebox.
Superheaters: They also included superheaters to improve efficiency.
Length: The H10s measured just under 70 feet long with the tender.
Later Years and Preservation:
Depression and WWII:
Many H10s sat idle during the Depression years but were recalled to service during World War II due to increased traffic.
Post-War:
After the war, they continued to be used in various roles, including switching, work trains, branch lines, and occasionally main line service.
Preservation:
Some H10s were preserved by the PRR as part of its historical collection, with H10s No. 7688 residing in the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.
Legacy:
MTH Trains and Broadway Limited Imports have produced model versions of the H10s, keeping their memory alive.

(Includes black boiler varient but I can't really take a screenshot.)
