Example Mod - New Policies

Description
Introduction

Hey modders! We made this example mod to showcase some of the kinds of changes you can make with mods. This is an example mod only and is not intended to preview any upcoming or planned changes to the game. We had fun with it, so feel free to poke around to see how we made it. And check out the Civilization VII Development Tools if you’d like to try making your own mods!

Charismatic Leader or Tool Making? A tough choice at the start of every Civ campaign. Well no longer! Make the choice MORE COMPLICATED with MOAR Policy cards!

This mod adds two brand new Policies to the Chiefdom Civic in the Antiquity Age, to give you new ways to start your Civilization!

  • Cylinder Seals
    • +2 Food, +3 Gold on the Palace.
  • Oracle Bones
    • +3 Happiness, +1 Culture on the Palace.

For Modders

This mod is intended to serve as an example mod for aspiring modders!

The Civilization VII Development Tools contains a guide walking you through the creation of this mod! This is a pretty simple mod you can study as you get started on your modding journey. All files come with an SQL/XML counterpart, so you can see how changes are made in either coding language.

A quick reminder:

When you're creating and sharing mods, please make sure your content follows our User Rules (which you can find in Section 6 of our Terms of Service), for example:
  • Don’t use content based on someone else’s IP (like characters, music, or art from other games, movies, etc.) unless you have the rights to use it.
  • Keep content safe and respectful, meaning no harmful, offensive, or inappropriate material.
  • And of course, no malicious code or anything that could negatively impact the experience for other players.

Does anyone know where the mods are placed in your file system? I looked at AppData/Local/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization VII/Mods but they appear to be placed there. I'm interested in getting into modding myself and would like to look at the dev tools to get started.

Any idea when your civ7-lf-policies-yields-preview will be added to workshop

This might be an example mod, but it's great to see new policies for the early game that are so well balanced.

Very cool to see Sukritact be the face of the Steam workshop mod examples!

I'm thinking Mr Rizla with Oracle Bones and the memento that gives food in the cap for having excess happiness. In fact i'm going to try it now!

A simple mod but these policies should be in the base game, they're amazingly useful!
