Description
Emil approached the large stone statue of himself. The faint rumble of a distant thunderstorm disrupted the stillness of the humid Janwall air. The stench of rotting seaweed stung Emil's nostrils just as much as what has just transpired a mere three days prior. An entire city expunged in brilliant nuclear hellfire. The war only lasted a day and a half. Republican forces fired first, "They were supposed to be warning shots." Emil thought. 5 million instantly vaporized, an additional 4 million dying in agony from radiation sickness. The lucky ones either were killed instantly in the four 20 kiloton nuclear warheads or are starving to death from the scattered supply lines. The media calls it the "Orhurst Holocaust". Emil visted the field hospital on the outskirts of Orhurst City, As he stared at the bold statue a knot formed in the pit of his stomach. Pure disgust and horror. Right before his eyes he was becoming the monster he hated the most, a reckless tyrant. Images flashed before him, the stench of rot, vomit and excrement, nurses comforting hundreds in the small tent. Blood curdling screams deafened him as nurses inject patients with iodine as their skin was blistering and sliding off in large sheets. Children called for mothers and fathers whilst suffering form the same horrific malady. Emil remembered the man he stood beside, staring at him through bloodshot eyes he tried to comfort the suffering individual. When Emil grabbed the man's arm he wailed in agony as one of the blistering pustules burst covering Emil's hand in an oily mix of blood and puss as he recoiled.

"Is this what you call justice?!" The man said through gritted teeth. A nurse rushed to his bedside and ushered Emil away. "Answer me, Boy!" he spoke in agony. Emil shook his head. He witnessed the nurse trying to console the man dying in front of him , but when she brushed the man's hair it fell out in large tufts. Emil began sweating and shaking. He looked at his right hand, covered in blood and stood in silence.

Emil Shoved past a nurse outside of the small tent, there were at least five others with red crosses flanking the small entrance flap. Once outside, he looked to his left at one of the large pits. containing bodies, at least 1,000 people and growing rapidly. thrown unceremoniously by Rebublican Army personnel. The sickness gauging at Emil's throat came to ahead when he fell to his knees and vomited on the dying field of grass. This was only the first field hospital out of fifty...

Emil, startled turned around to the encroachment of a large Scarlet Dawn cruiser, the same one that had greeted him two months prior. The familiar purple figure emerged from a beam of violet light, it was Harbinger Osmond. "Emil, What the hell did you do?." The apparition asked sharply.

"Avoided a two front war." Emil said bluntly. "It was my fault, blood on MY hands. I caused it."

"I see... Well, you wouldn't be the first to commit such an atrocity." Desmod spoke empathetically. "I am an absolute monster by your standards. Over 40 worlds, Emil... 40. "Total Atmospheric Ignition we call it, officially called 'sanitation' by Dawn Higher-ups. Contingency orbital laser cannons dotted around the planet fed by a coronal plasma array from the parent star, boiling every last amount biological matter from the surface. I call it a crime." "I was the one that gave those orders to destroy those planets, each and every one. countless billions, erased by my hands alone... Do you have any idea how that weighs on a man, or whats left of one anyways." Desmond stared at the distant thunderstorm, watching lightning rip from the heavens onto the restless sea. "But my eyes were opened one day Emil. I spent a considerable amount of time working on this quaint little speck in the night sky about 550 odd light years away. Called 'Earth', wonderfull place, wonderful people with vibrant cultures. People that looked just like us! Never in my 970 years would I expect to see humans. 56 years I spent there, even bought a home in a little place called Montana. But Emil, orders came and I was to subdue and sanitize the planet. They didn't even last 3 hours, then 8.6 billion people gone, just like that in an instant. I couldn't do it, command override from Admiral Harbinger Ullum put me in stasis as I was forced to watch the place I called home after Neter incinerated. I cried the entire journey Emil, back home... Another world to be purged, all life expunged for what, some business magnate or statesman to boast to the masses about glory and 'strength'. No longer.

"Is Neter safe, Harbinger?"

"For now... I am assuming you have read your share of Neterian history about that asteroid that destroyed Foxmere. I could not let the other nations find out about our true intentions Emil. So I de orbitted all of our contingency weapons say for a few at once. I figured that one continent being destroyed is far better than an entire planet in ashes." They all run on a low power setting now." Osmond began pacing in front of Emil when he placed a hand on his shoulder. "There is still good in you Emil, I can see it."

With a bright flash of light, The transulcent figure vanished and Emil sat at the steps of the large statue hunched with his hands clasping his head pondering all that Desmond said.
