yeah, that would have made it a bit easier, but I find this aproch gives me better control over the outcome.

@Bob, Ah. I see; good choice of music for the timelapse video itself. I'm used to unwrapping in 3dsmax, and many times before I've seen people simply take the raw unwrap file itself after rendering out the unwrap for texture work... and just slapping it on over the regular texture itself with a low opacity and traced edges.

it's by no means a complex skin, but there's more too it then just adding the texture and color,

Looks like you just took the unwrap for the gun and put it over the texture file itself.
