Walkover tunnel for red pandas

This walkover tunnel is specifically designed for red pandas and other similarly sized animals. It enables a safe and species-appropriate connection between two enclosure sections – even if a keeper path or visitor walkway lies between them. Animals can comfortably move between indoor and outdoor spaces, passing overhead either above staff corridors or guest areas.

At both ends of the tunnel are hydraulically operated double guillotine gates, inspired by real-world zoo installations. Each gate includes:

– a solid steel panel, providing full visual separation and containment,
– and a mesh panel, allowing controlled visibility and limited interaction.

Both panels are operated independently via a hydraulic system. They slide vertically — retracting downward into the floor or extending upward — enabling secure transfers or protected contact when needed.
