Description
Early Note: This boomer is a miniboss categorized as Medium-High Threat Level.


Somewhere during an escape from "True Fangshi" campaign, survivors reached Great Wall of China. They kept fighting against zombies while running. However, Ellis was arrogant enough to face them only with melee, thanks to Zeus giving him the source of his childish arrogance, the "Lightning Sparks" superpower.
Ellis: "Come here, face me...!! Hahh...!! Hurryahh..!!" *swinging his baseball bat that called forth Lightning Sparks hitting the zombies*
Nick: "Good... Now the kid has got his new toy. We as the adults can only watch..."
Coach: "I hope that tank won't show up now that thunderclap sound keeps coming out of his bat..."
Rochelle: "We can call him Bruce El Lis now..."
Nick: "It would be fun if some kungfu zombies show up later..."
Coach: "Oh hell, Nick...!!!"
Rochelle: "Do we have some plasters of bandages? I think Nick needs them on his mouth..."
Ellis: "Oh sh*t, Nick...!"
Nick: "Come on! I was just talking for fun. No prediction...!"
Ellis: "Now I have a bad feeling here..."

& Ellis was right. There was a kind of small earthquake coming closer & closer. Suddenly there's something big falling from the sky. A fat man with yellowish green skin was landing, with a fighting stance on his feet.
Ellis: "Don't say it, Nick...! Don't say it...!"
Nick: "Watch out for hi-hmmmmph...!!"
Coach: *covered Nick's mouth with his hands from behind* "I'm gonna secure this godd*mn mouth first...! Let's be cautious, Ellis. He's a colored one..."

Like martial artists facing each other, Ellis & the colored boomer were looking at each other for awhile in 4 feet of distance to each other. Suddenly the boomer started to prepare his attack on his right knuckle by pulling it behind like an arrow being prepared before releasing. Nick immediately forced himself to remove Coach's hands on his mouth.
Nick: "Avoid it...!!"
Ellis: "What...?!"

Following Nick's warning, Ellis immediately moved to the right when the boomer released his right punch. Just as Nick's prediction, that punch was not a normal one. There were some light traces coming from it, & when they hit the wall, it left some cracks & holes. All survivors looked panicked, while the boomer started to have an evil grin.
Ellis: "Oh sh*t we're all d*mned...!! Run before he starts to punch again...!!!"

Later that boomer was called "Shotgun Boomer", as his kungfu punch looked like a spread shot from a shotgun. He became one of mini bosses during "Boomer Army Invasion", with his deadly punch in close to medium range that's only second to Shadow Boomer's instant-death punch & bile attacks.


& that's the background story for the kungfu "Shotgun Boomer" for fun... :D . Now about this mutated boomer, he's a mini boss with a medium-high threat level depending on the range. If you meet him in very close distance, you're doomed the moment he starts to vomit or punch you. But in far enough distance, he won't be much threat.


List of features available on "boomer army - shotgun boomer.txt" cfg file:
  1. Shotgun Boomer Chance: The spawn chance of this mutated boomer.

  2. Follow Difficulty Level: This affects the damage on the "Shotgun Punch" whether it follows difficulty level or not. If it follows difficulty level, the damage is adjusted based on difficulty (Easy= 3, Normal= 6, Advanced= 9, Expert= 15). If this is set to 0, the damage will be 15 on all difficulty levels.

  3. Spawn Notification: Enabled by default. Set it to 0 if you want to hide the notification.

  4. Boss Aura: Exclusive aura on boss & miniboss types. When enabled, boomer will show some fiery aura indicating that he's a different type from the others.


Mechanisms of "Shotgun Boomer":
  • "Shotgun Boomer" will spawn based on the chance set on "Shotgun Boomer Chance".

  • "Shotgun Boomer" has yellowish green color (close to yellow than green, I think).

  • "Shotgun Boomer" has 1600 health. this health modification doesn't affect normal boomer.

  • "Shotgun Boomer" can trigger "Shotgun Punch". This punch is similar to shotgun shot (like on the "Underbarrel Shotgun Series") that deals spread AOE damage in front of him in close to medium range.

  • "Shotgun Punch" is triggered under 3 conditions:
    1. (Counter) Every 2 seconds when he's attacked by a survivor while looking at one of survivor.
    2. When he does normal attacks.
    3. When he successfully vomits on a survivor.

  • The closer a survivor to this boomer when he's using "Shotgun Punch", the more damage will be taken. The farther, the less damage.

  • "Shotgun Punch" can damage common & witch, but special infected teammates are immune to this punch.

  • Tips: Shove him immediately you meet him in close range just before he vomits or punches. Don't shoot if he's looking at you in close range or he'll counter your attack with "Shotgun Punch" & you'll be doomed as the damage is huge in close range even on Normal difficulty (you can still survive on Easy difficulty, probably). Shove him & kill him instantly with melee from behind for an easy kill with less risk except from being biled (just hope that boomer bot doesn't have cheating eyes that lock on a survivor).

NOTES:
  • This boomer can kill an incapacitated survivor much faster than tank, as each of his punch triggers "Shotgun Punch". So if there's an incapacitated teammate near this boomer, don't help him unless you want to be the next one rolling on the floor because of his punch in close range :D .

@Taunk , probably some modders familiar with adding weapon models & animations can make it happen. The mechanisms are probably like CWL & custom enemies in custom campaigns. All it needs are spawning weapon model based on fallen survivor's angles, along with the muzzle flash, bullet tracers & the damage when the bullet hits a survivor. Probably someday there will be a modder doing that. I'm still not familiar with adding weapon model on infected, so I can't make it for now (there's also an idea about "Special Infected Army" where each special infected holds specific gun, but this idea also requires that knowledge about adding weapon model)

I have wondered, have they tried to make a mod where fallen survivors have weapons and shoot at the surviving ones? It would be more challenging for them, and it would be harder for them to obtain the things from the fallen survivors.

@TheTeaa , maybe later. Even the main boss of Boomer still hasn't shown up yet :steamhappy: . There's a plan to make him the most annoying Boomer among mutated boomers, but I'll save it for later as there are still some mutated boomers waiting.
