The AN-94 “Abakan” is an advanced Russian assault rifle designed to replace the AK-74, featuring a unique two-round burst system capable of firing at 1,800 rounds per minute. Chambered in 5.45×39mm, it uses a complex delayed-recoil mechanism that allows the first two shots to land almost in the same spot before recoil kicks in. Though praised for its accuracy and innovation, its complexity and cost limited mass adoption. Still, the AN-94 remains a rare and elite weapon in the Russian arsenal.
