Seven Kingdoms

Description
0.2 Update is here!

While the Isles bled, the great Frankish kingdoms, once heirs to the Western Roman legacy, were not immune to the creeping rot of internal strife. Their vast empire, the supposed bulwark of Christian Europe, has fractured, not by external invasion, but by the relentless ambition of its own sons.

In the heart of Gaul, Francia and Neustria now stand as warring titans, two halves of a shattered whole, each claiming the rightful mantle of Frankish dominance. Their once-united strength is spent in bitter fratricide, leaving a power vacuum ripe for the exploiting. To their south, the ancient lands of Roman Gaul are far from unified; Visigothic kings, defiant and hungry, press against the weakened borders, dreaming of re-forging their lost empire from the Pyrenees to the Loire. Even the proud Burgundians, once a cohesive realm, find themselves splintered, their ambition now turned inward as they scramble to reclaim their own ancestral territories from the ruins of Frankish unity. And on the windswept coasts, an audacious and alien force has planted its flag: Normannia, a strange, new kingdom carved out by Anglo-Saxon refugees, adding a chilling new dimension to the endless struggle for dominance.

Across the Alps, the sun-drenched jewel of Italia is no less a crucible of chaos. The once-mighty Imperium Romanum, symbol of eternal order, has withered to a mere rump state in Latium, clinging desperately to the memory of past glory. The peninsula is a brutal mosaic of warring ambitions: Lombard conquerors, fierce and unyielding, carve out their domains in the north and south, imposing their will with blade and faith. Alongside them, ambitious Italian princes rise from their city-states, each grasping for supremacy. And the last, tenacious remnants of Roman rule, heirs to a broken but unforgotten dream, fight tooth and nail for survival, some clinging to ancient imperial claims, others plotting their own resurgence from beleaguered cities.

This is a continent consumed by the ghosts of empires and the raw ambition of its inheritors. Every throne is contested, every border a scar, and every claim forged in blood. The stage is set for a new age of warlords, crusaders, and kings.

What destiny will you forge in this fractured inheritance?

Lore

The great migration of the Saxons, Angles, and Jutes did not end in conquest—it ended in blood. By 836 AD, the Britons rallied behind forgotten kings, druidic seers, and the last remnants of Rome. Against all odds, they halted the invaders and pushed them back to the eastern lowlands. The price was steep: unity shattered, kingdoms fractured, and peace lost. But the Britons endured.

By 867, the Isles are home to seven great realms, each forged in the crucible of war. The Britons hold the highlands and hills. The Saxons linger in the east, bitter and broken but far from defeated. Norse warlords raid the coasts, carving out their own kingdoms amid the chaos.

And beneath it all, bloodlines stir. The children of saints, monsters, heroes, and gods walk the land. Some claim descent from emperors. Others from something older, something darker. Their names are whispered in courts and battlefields alike, shaping the fate of a divided island where war never truly ended.

F.A.Q
  • Why is this mod so broken? I've lost count on the bugs!

This is the alpha release of the game. I released it to give myself a slight break. I will be refining, adding, and patching as the weeks go on. I would also use this to remind you that as an alpha, I cannot guarantee that your saves won't break constantly. Keep that in mind while playing!

  • This makes no historical sense! Why would you create such an affront to our reality?!

This mod is for fun and flavor. It is not meant to be historical in any way.

  • Is [ x ] mod compatible with Seven Kingdoms?

Seven Kingdoms is technically a total conversion. I did my best to make it as compatible as possible, but again, I cannot guarantee anything.

  • Why does this mod seem cobbled together with duct tape and prayer?

    Probably because it is.

  • The character selection screen doesn't look right. Why isn't it filled out properly?

It's not right. I have the characters and their background filled out, but the map is incorrect, as is the DNA. The flags, COA and more in this mod are NOT DONE. The game will randomly generate them for the time being. To me, these things are secondary and will be completed later. Custom character selection is probably best for the time being.
