Description

OVERVIEW
German Stringbag
I wanted to combine the German Heinkel He 51 and British Fairey Swordfish for a Deutsche torpedo bomber. Ended up ripping the top wing off early on and added lots of wires!

I aimed to make this as single-player friendly as a bomber can be.
You can switch between the pilot and gunner seats mid-flight with a little leaning.
With just the flick of a switch, the pilot can let the gunner make their own flight control inputs. Plus, the gunner can see through a scope and launch the torpedo themselves!

Weirdly enough, this is Sector Control compliant.

OPERATION

Notable Stats/Features:
> Top speed of 170 knots unloaded
> Stall speed of 50 knots unloaded
> Enormous range on just 490 liters of fuel
> Can glide under the right circumstances
> 1 cannon with 200 rounds of ammo firing effortlessly through the propeller
> 1 torpedo
Dumbfire/no-guidance - holds depth and heading!
> 1 Pylon
Currently loaded with 1x torpedo

Startup/Takeoff:
> Refuel tanks
They spawn at a half-full state
> Turn ON "MAGNETO"
> Hold ON "STARTER HANDLE" until the engine turns on
See pictures for location
> Close canopy
> Turn ON "RELEASE WHEEL BRAKES"
> Throttle UP and pull UP

Weaponry Rules of Thumb
> Cannon is best used against strafing larger ships to annoy them
Low speed and a little hard to aim
> Torpedoes move at 110 knots and pack quite a punch
> Enable fine movements to align on targets

Rearming:
> Refueling is on the bottom of the aircraft, near the rear of the right wing
> While not a problem if you refuel all the way at a pump, when you get low on fuel, you will need to inlet pressure
> You can easily rearm suspended weaponry because, after the pylon is fired, the counter that controls triggering is reset
> Light autocannon ammo can be reloaded from the right side of the nose

Is it just me or is the muzzleflash for the cannon floating ahead of it?

@Thales,
Thank you very much!

I’ll keep that suggestion high up on my list - very interesting plane!

And I’ll use your tips, thanks!

Nice work.
Suggestion: Fieseler Fi 167

Small fins on the wings would provide much more lift if they are attached to main body, similar to how floatplane floats need to be attached to the body via non-xml blocks in order to work. Also fins on the wings should have small positive angle upward to generate lift at level flight.
