Description

A villain of British history - famous for tearing down the monarchy, only to reestablish it in all but name.

Try to manage the unhappiness of your rebellious population - on the brink of falling into civil war once again,

But keep them under control for large payoffs of production and culture.

FEATURES
  • New Leader: Adds a new leader with a difficult, but rewarding, ability.
  • Narrative Storyline: A full complement of narrative events, including a leader story. Explore the weird and wonderful politics of the English Civil War, and quash all hope and idealism from the burgeoning liberal nation you rule.
  • 3D Character:An animated 3D model representing Cromwell. [Currently a placeholder until better tools for modifying models and adding animations etc become available]
    • Thanks to Izica who discovered a way to replace leader models! Make sure to install their leader model changer in order to use this mod.
  • Mementos:Three mementos themed after Cromwell, including the Speaker's Mace, Lobster Helm, and pamphlet 'Killing No Murder'.
    • Important: Mementos are fiddly at the moment without full mod support from Firaxis. To unlock the mementos, start a game as Cromwell, then return to the main menu to start a new game, and the mementos should be available! Let me know any issues you encounter with this, as that'll help us understand what works and why, and maybe find better implementations.

MEMENTO EFFECTS
  • Speaker's Mace: Gain a Civic Boost whenever you spend an Attribute Point in the Diplomacy Tree
  • Lobster Helm: +2 Culture for every Cavalry Unit
  • Killing No Murder: Unrest does not prevent Purchasing, but Garrisoned Commanders reduce Happiness penalties by 100% less

FEEDBACK AREAS
  • Balance: The ability is quite extreme. It can be both very punishing and very powerful. Any feedback on how challenging or overpowered it is would be really valuable, and I'm looking to update this based on responses.
    • My advice: Though the payoffs are City-centric, Towns are vital for playing Cromwell. The gold maintenance on citizens can be really punishing, so having high-production mining towns to keep your economy afloat is key.
  • Leader Colour: Cromwell's colour scheme is a dark grey and white. This can look quite similar to Independent Powers. I find the grey easy to differentiate from the pitch black of IPs, but you might not. Please let me know if it's too confusing and I can look at taking a lighter colour.
Any other issues you encounter please let me know asap and I can include it in a future update!

hey! its likely a mod or dlc compatibility issue.
if ur on windows, go to:
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VII\Logs
there, you can open Database.log in notepad,
let me know what it says. ignore any "foreign key" errors, as these are to do with the custom mementos and don't prevent anything from working. "unique" and "missing" errors are the ones that can be fatal on startup.
