Description
You're immune to the Knox virus, so why do you wake up with global topographical amnesia?


This mod lets you start with map knowledge of your immediate surroundings, as well as knowledge of the roads in a much larger area. Both the immediate radius and the distance of know roads from your starting point can be configured in sandbox options.


FAQ

What do the sandbox options do?

  • Start Knowing Roads gives all new characters knowledge of the roads around their starting location.
  • Add to Existing Characters gives existing characters road knowledge, around their location when they first log in after this mod is activated.
  • Home radius creates a circle around a new character's start location where they know 100% of the map. Set to 0 to disable.
  • Road radius is the distance from the starting location where roads are revealed.
  • Debug prints a bit of extra information.

Does this mod work in B41?

No, B42 only.

Does this work with modded maps?

Yes, provided they have set up forage zones correctly; specifically having 'Nav' zones on roads.

A few places on the map reveal areas without roads!

That's because the game's forage data doesn't match the roads; this is mainly noticeable on a few highway sections that were converted from right angle corners to nice long curves/angled sections in B42.

Can you avoid revealing buildings next to the roads?

Map knowledge is tracked in 32x32 units, so there will always be some overlap on the edges of the roads.

after a i quit to desktop this last time i no longer have any of the map knowledge i had including street smarts knowledge of roads despite mod being active is that an issue with this?

@quackers no code from this mod triggers when viewing the map, it triggers on entering the game. If your game is crashing because part of the map is known then you have something else going on.

@marc this mod only reveals roads in a chosen radius, not the entire map/solid sections of the map. This means you can see how to get around but the world still feels unexplored.
Any difference between this mod and Kentucky Knowledge by Duncan?
