TBH with you when I was younger, I was too poor to have an army myself. I "played" with friends who introduced me to Warhammer which I fell in love with as I was into medieval history, and fantasy.
I was only a reader and a painter really and I avidly poured through my mates' White Dwarfs and borrowed books from the library. Nowadays, there's a plethora of sources and literature to choose from...even audio books...now of which I can somewhat afford...
