The half-century Philippine fight for independence took many forms: lobbying to politicians, a revolution, and at least three wars. This mod is a snapshot of the Philippines within the game’s modern-era timeframe: A fledgling, battle-hardened nation whose sense of identity is torn between its precolonial traditions, 333 years of Spanish rule, and nearly 50 years as America’s “little brother” (read: colony). As a newly-independent nation, not only must The Philippines find its way around much more powerful nations, but it must also find its own sense of identity.

Adds the Philippines as a new playable Civilization, based on their struggles from their revolution from Spain, through the colonization of the United States, and the aftermath of the Second World War. A civilization that suits many playstyles, trade and diplomacy bonuses build financial and political funds to help you towards your goals, and defensive bonuses help protect what you’ve built up.

Unique Ability
Bayanihan (tl: Community unity) - This way of life means that Filipinos will always lend a helping hand to their neighbors. Receiving a declaration of war grants Influence and Culture. Increased Influence towards proposing and supporting endeavors. Combat penalty for land units outside friendly territory.

Attributes
Diplomatic, Economic

Civics
Unique Civic Tree:
  • Pag-ibig sa Tinubuang Lupa (Love for the Homeland):
    • The Filipino people yearn for a country to call their own. Defending your newfound independence is easier with this civic that grants war support for defensive wars, and bonuses for your Army Commanders.
      • Tier 1: Gain war support when receiving a declaration of war. Increased XP gain for commanders. All Army Commanders gain the Hold The Line promotion. Unlocks the Pag-alsa Tradition.
    • Tradition: Pag-alsa (Revolution): This tradition allows you to better defend your sovereignty, granting combat strength in friendly territory.
      • Units gain combat strength when defending in friendly territory.
  • Perla del Mar de Oriente (Pearl of the Orient Sea):
    • The riches and strategic position of the Philippines made it a prosperous trading node of the Spanish. Grow your civilization with this civic that unlocks your unique infrastructure and promotes production and purchase of traders.
      • Tier 1: Unlocks the Parian building. Increased Production and Gold towards producing and purchasing Merchants. Unlocks the Corregidor wonder.
      • Tier 2: Unlocks the Dambana building. Unlocks the Galeon de Manila Tradition.
    • Tradition: Galeon de Manila (Manila Galleon): The maritime connections established under Spanish rule enriches your trade routes with bonus gold and culture.
      • Trade routes give additional Gold and Culture.
  • Treaty of General Relations and Protocol (Kasunduan ng Pangkalahatang Relasyon at Protokol):
    • Decades of Filipino statesmen advocating for their independence gave the Philippines this piece of paper granting the independence that should have been half a century ago. Enable your diplomacy with this civic that grants bonuses to influence.
      • Tier 1: Jeepneys spawn in the Capital. Gain Influence per ally. Unlocks the Bell Trade Act Tradition.
    • Bell Trade Act (Kalakalang Batas ni Bell): There is no such thing as a free lunch. This lopsided trade agreement was approved in exchange for independence and assistance in rebuilding after World War II. Reliance on imported resources grants gold and influence, at the cost of science, culture, and happiness.
      • Each imported resource grants extra Gold and Influence. Each imported resource has a Science, Culture, and Happiness penalty.
  • Pilipino Muna (Filipino First):
    • A country grown on foreign influence is in dire need of its own sense of pride and identity. Foster your Pinoy Pride with this civic that gives bonus influence to Filipino towns and happiness to your unique infrastructure.
      • Tier 1: All settlements grant a small amount of Influence. Unlocks the Linggo ng Wika Tradition.
      • Tier 2: Unique Buildings and Improvements grant extra happiness.
    • Linggo ng Wika (Language Week): Concerted efforts to form a national identity allows you to have more frequent, but shorter, celebrations.
      • Shorter celebrations, but happiness towards celebrations is massively increased.

@Tadeusz @Shardik McDuck Thanks for your support! I understand that the mod would be better with unique graphics, just waiting for Firaxis to make it possible.

Unfortunately we don't have additional Narrative Events yet, but we have multiple lined up! We're waiting for better tools or methods to handle narrative events since currently it's quite overwhelming to implement them

Hello, I'm gonna try this later. I love this. But I'm wondering if this mod has additional Narrative Events. Because those goes so well with Rizal.
