?????: "SERIZAWOAAAA...!!!"
Serizawa: "GENJIIIIEE......!!!"


Somewhere in a parallel universe, 2 gangs of youngsters led by young men named Genji & Serizawa, clashed somewhere on a vast field. Both sides landed hits & took hits many times, yet they refused to fall.

Black Liege: *watching from a supreme godly TV* "Interesting...... Oops...!! Oh sh*t, I pressed 'Transfer' button by accident when trying to check L4D world channel!!"

& a misfortune fell upon those 2 gangs of youngsters. The mischievous god, Black Liege, sent them to L4D2 world by accident (?) :D . They all arrived somewhere at a Japanese temple in a daylight. They got puzzled for awhile & stopped fighting while looking around, until they found some creepy humans with foul stenches running to them.

Genji: "Eat this...!!" *dropped a jumping knee on a zombies* . "What is this...?!!"

The smashing & kicking sounds attracted more zombies. Not long afterwards, L4D2 survivors showed up. Seeing some strangers, both gangs walked to L4D2 survivors with sharp eyes like tigers.

Ellis: "Whoaa, whoaa...!! Easy...!! We're not zombies...!!" *trying to step forward to mediate*
Genji: "Foreigners...! What are you doing here,,,?"
Ellis: "Did you all seriously beat all those zombies...?! That's so cool...!!"
Serizawa: "They're just weak... We're going to stop our fights for now..."
Genji: "Fine with me."

When taking a rest inside the temple area, they introduced themselves that they're Japanese people, but somehow they felt unfamiliar to the temple. Ellis started to explain to them about what had happened. He also told that a famous ninja named Hanzo Hattori from Japanese history had also landed in the L4D world. Hearing that story, they were shocked, as they never expected that such famous ninja in the past had also come to this world. Then they decided to join L4D2 survivors, at least until they left for Japan, as the young deliquents decided to protect Japan while at the same time trying find Hanzo. During the journey to beat zombies, they taught survivors their street brawls, that turned out to be powerful enough to beat special infected & even a tank the more attacks hit.

Ellis: "Just you wait, Kungfu Boomer... The moment we return to China, we're going for a rematch...!!"

& that's the fun background story about how L4D2 survivors met Genji & Serizawa :D . & now, about this mod, this mod allows survivors to enhance the shove ability to be more powerful when more hits are landed on zombies.


List of features available on "brawler survivors.txt" cfg file:
  1. brawler_user: Who can use this (bots/ players/ all).

  2. brawler_mode: Which mode is active (Default/ Individual Combo Count).

  3. brawler_punch_damage: How much damage on each shove.

  4. brawler_punch_speed: How fast the shoving attack is. This one uses a cvar that controls the shoving speed. Default= 0.5. L4D2 default= 0.7.

  5. combo_count: How many hits until the combo count starts to increase. The combo count multiplies the damage the more combos are accumulated. Tank & witch are unaffected by this. Min= 0 (each hit increases combo count), max= no limit.

  6. boss_combo_count: Same, but special for tank & witch.

  7. combo_stun_chance: The chance to stumble a special infected when shoving. Tank & witch are unaffected.

  8. boss_combo_stun_chance: Same, but for tank & witch.

  9. effect_on_hit: When enabled, additional blood splatter effect will be added when shoving zombies.

  10. enable_signature_moves: When enabled, "Signature Moves" can be used.

  11. combo_gore_mode: When enabled, common infected killed with shoving attacks will have parts of their body destroyed/ gibbed (see the animated previews).

  12. allow_counter_when_pinned: When enabled, you can damage special infected by holding SHOVE button when you're taking damage as you're pinned by special infected.


Mechanisms of "Brawler Survivors":
  • Survivors can replenish melee fatigue (loading/ cooldown after shoving many times) by shoving zombies.

  • Keep shoving a zombie to gather the combo count.

  • Combo count is affected by "combo_count" & "boss_combo_count" features.

  • Damage of each shoving attack is controlled by "brawler_punch_damage", but it's multiplied by combo count. Here's the table of the examples for multiplied damage, with 10 damage as example:

  • The "brawler_mode" controls whether the combo count is triggered by the survivor or the target. Here's the table for comparisons:
    brawler_mode = 0
    brawler_mode = 1
    - Each hit on any zombies can accumulate combo count
    - Example: Shoving 10 random zombies = 10 combos
    - Only hitting the same zombie will accumulate combo count
    - Example: Shoving 10 zombies = 1 combo for each zombie
    - Combo count is reset to 0 when attacking (left click)
    - Combo count is not reset
    - Strong against many zombies/ horde
    - Strong against individual strong zombie when combos are increased
    - Can be used on any zombies
    - Can be used only on a zombie with enough combo count
    - Can only trigger one signature move
    - Can trigger different signature moves if zombies with different combo count gathers

  • This shoving attack bypasses riot zombie's armor.

  • << NEW= COUNTER ABILITY >> "allow_counter_when_pinned" allows survivors to retaliate when pinned by dealing damage to the special infected pinning them. Hold SHOVE button when you're pinned to retaliate. Here's the table for the comparisons:
    allow_counter_when_pinned = 0
    allow_counter_when_pinned = 1
    No notification
    Notification on instructor hint
    Requires 1 combo to retaliate
    Can still be used even with 0 combo
    Activation chance is (combo * 10%) holding SHOVE
    Always active when holding SHOVE
    Immediately escapes from pin when successful
    Special infected will stumble if escape is successful
    Keeps damaging the special/ tongue when holding SHOVE
    When breaking tongue, smoker will stumble
    Damage formula = brawler_punch_damage & combo_count
    Damage formula = brawler_punch_damage & combo_count
    Combo count is reset to 0 when successful
    Combo count is not reset


With this mod, it's no longer gun or melee fights. Use your knuckles, to punch zombies, witch, & even tank right to their faces :D

NOTES:
  • This mod is best paired with RF's "Stagger Fix" mod on special infected, to prevent hunter, charger & other special infected from attacking while stumbling (special infected bots are often cheating this way).

  • More signature moves will be added later. One spoiler: There will be a signature move named "Fist of the North Star" later, as one of ultimate signature moves. "You are already dead,,,..." :D .

@TheTeaa , you can increase the combo count for that, to make it harder to collect combos. For example, if you use mods like mega mobs or mods that greatly increase number of common, set "combo_count" to 20 or 30 so you can punch zombies much longer without killing them too fast. Actually I can also add something like "combo_cap", but I'll do that later when more signature moves come.

@Kuroachama please make a cap on how much the combo can stack, it can get to a point where you can keep stacking combo to kill everything in 1 hit

reminds me of Oneechanbara and Zombie Lollipop, but his one, they got some BALLS to fight some zombies unarmed
