Description
Play as the Desert Father, Pachomius; in Sid Meier's Civilization VI.

The Copts have lived in Egypt since time immemorial. Gradually, the native Egyptians experienced various waves of Hellenisation and Latinisation during the clash of the Diadochi and later Roman polities. Christianity spread through Egypt like sandstorm; the Good News allowed the Egyptian-Copts, then third-class citizens behind the Greek, to find solace as a broken people. Copts contributed a great deal to the humanities and sciences through the Alexandrine School until the unfortunate schisms that tore the Miaphysites from the Dyophysites. Eventually the Romans and Persians were devoured by the Arabs, a people who coerced the Copts into bondage as dhimmi. Coptic-Arab relations remains strained even after the Ottoman and British Empires receded thus enabling Egyptian self-determination. Some ideologies merge the Arabs and Copts as the endemic heirs to the pharaohs.

    LEADER: PACHOMIUS (COPTMET AND EGYPT)
  • Trait - Ascetica: Cities do not gain Housing from Water. Cities with at least 3 Population suffer -50% Growth, doubled at 7 Population. +1 Faith for every 2 followers of your religion in foreign cities. Gain the Cenobitic Fast unique project.
  • Agenda - Miraculous Tongues: Likes civilizations with high population. Sympathetic towards civilizations with low population.

    LEADER PROJECT: CENOBITIC FAST
  • City-based project. Provides Faith in the city every turn. Awards Great Prophet points, as well as +1 Population and +1 Housing in all cities once finished.

    CIVILIZATION: COPTMET
  • Trait - Desert Fathers: Flat Desert tiles without a feature or improvement gain +1 yields.
  • Alt Name - Khemi.
  • Spawn Bias - Desert/Desert Hills (Tier 1).

    CIVILIZATION UNIT: BASHMURIAN REBEL
  • Replaces the Pikeman. No maintenance cost. Purchased with Faith instead of Gold. +5 Combat Strength against religious enemies. Defeating an enemy unit grants Faith equal to 25% of enemy Combat Strength.

    CIVILIZATION IMPROVEMENT: CENOBIUM
  • +1 Great Prophet point per turn. Adjacent unimproved, featureless flat Desert tiles gain +1 yields. +15 HP healing for friendly religious unit on this tile that has not attacked this turn. +2 Appeal. Must be built on flat Desert. Cannot be worked. Cannot be built adjacent to another Cenobium. Cities can only have one Cenobium and cannot swap tiles with a Cenobium.
