Perks

Okay, I know that you're looking at this guide and realising that "holy shart this girl talks a lot". But seriously, I am going to help you become the best survivor there is. As you know, there are four key elements to being a great survivor, and this section will talk about the perks that are best.

Depending on your play-style, you might like to be a healer, or a great gen popper, or you might be the sickest looper that the world has ever seen. However you are missing out on the one thing everyone forgets:

S E L F I S H N E S S

Do you understand that?
From the look on your poor, decrepit face, it seems you do! Great, let's continue.

In order to be the best, you have to ignore your whole team. Oh, you play with your friends? You still have those after playing Dead by Daylight for hours and hours on end? I'm surprised they haven't left you to rot in the basement yet, considering how bad you play. I mean, you're reading this guide to understand how much mental power it takes to play Dead by Daylight and win.

You see that poor, wounded girl on the hook? You know, she's goth and cute, and her little thighs are showing *cough* sable *cough*.

Turn the other way.
She's not real, you are just hallucinating her. It's okay, I know you can hear her groans of pain. But, your perks... they don't reflect "saving" someone. The whole point of this game is to save yourself! Did you even play The Casting of Frank Stone? Remember how it ended? We ALL end up at the campfire, nobody escapes... not even me :(.

Your perks should reflect the selfishness, the desire to be freed from this hell you are reliving again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again...

These perks could include, but are not limited to:
  • Plot Twist - What's the best way to be healed? Why Plot Twist of course! I have this on each and every character I play. It is useful in every situation, and because nobody is coming to heal you (they are also just as selfish as you are).
  • Self-Care - A rather simple one, just heal yourself without a med-kit.
  • Dead Hard - Prioritise your own survival in key moments, leap forth and avoid that damage the killer is drooling over.
  • Adrenaline - Focus on your escape by instantly healing and getting a speed boost when the exit gates are powered. YOU must escape... not them.
  • Sole Survivor - The more survivors eliminated, the better the reward. For each elimination, you gain a speed boost and the visibility of your scratch marks reduces. Now that's why we play, isn't it?

These perks all have benefits, and I run each one on different occasions, depending on how utterly selfish I am feeling that day. Did someone cut me off in traffic? Did someone step on my nice clean shoes while I waited in a line? These outline my day... make my choices on how much I want to help someone else...

If you have any other perk suggestions please inform me! I read all your comments.
Outfits
"cheebok that's a strange choice for winning" "cheebok how is that going to help me win?"

Please leave me alone.

SO...
Outfits.. huh...

Well, I really like making outfits, and you do technically have to feed the greedy greedy paws of Behaviour to get most of them.

However!
I say this is well worth the investment. You want your team to either think you are are a vegetable, so they try to help you (how selfless of them) OR you want your team to think that you are so far up your own ass that they bow down at your feet and beg for your help.

You can either make an outfit that resembles that of a vagrant person, or one of those beat down anime kids (you know the ones) OR you can bedazzle yourself, a good indicator of this is the same vibe as the killer "The Trickster". He's literally covered in swag.

Examples:

I genuinely think that you look like a British father who's just come back from Ibiza and is drinking the 13th Stella this evening and is about to go and beat up his wife. Or you look like a redditor that tried to impress his "kittens" but is just the laughing stock of the town.

WOOF WOOF

Total badass, you look like you're about to beat the killer up. You're not trapped with them, it's them trapped with you.

I'm honestly going to leave this up to you. Her face is rather scary but also laughable, much like the outfit. However if you're going for intimidating then I guess it works, although it does remind me very much of "The Clown"

Overall, I am sure you understand my little rant and how an outfit can shape you. It could also help you mentally in the sense that you are way cooler than the rest of your teammates, or that your teammates feel so bad for you that you have their sympathy and they will rush to help you.
Chat talk
In the chaotic world of Dead by Daylight, communication can be the difference between life and death. While you may be focused on your own survival, it is of utmost importance that you assert your dominance in the chat at the beginning of the match. You may also choose to manipulate your way into getting teammates to serve your selfish interests*.

*note: if you are playing with friends, make a really dumb plan and make then stick to it, like "only help me and just follow me around the whole game", could be fun to be honest.

  • Brag - You must inform everyone how good you are. "Last match, I was the last one alive and got out of the main gates!" "I think I am the only one who knows how to play this game, you all just focused on yourselves while I was here selflessly doing gens." (Both of these are lies, I am sure you understand (besides the being the best part))
  • Compliments - Do NOT compliment, in fact, don't even say GG. It was not a good game when you are playing with other people. This game is a breeze, I know that you could easily do 5 gens alone being chased by 1 killer. Sooooo easy!
  • Dodge Responsibility - If things go south, make sure to deflect any blame. You can say, “I was busy doing my own thing while you all got caught. Not my fault you couldn’t handle the pressure!”

Mastering the inner selfish prick that you are can really help to be confident and win, I mean, who else is gonna help you BUT yourself?!
Actual Gameplay
Alright, alright, calm down!

HEY! I SAID CALM DOWN!!!!

I know that you have been waiting so patiently for me to teach you how to win properly, so here it goes!

Step 1: Follow a teammate, or find a generator yourself
This generator could be anywhere, and therefore if you followed a teammate, it's done faster, which means your escape will be quicker. If you are alone, consider taking a perk that could aid in speedy generators, like Fast Track or Leader/Prove Thyself (only useful with another person, sorry....).

If you followed a teammate, then great. Your generator is done faster and you could possibly follow them around for most of the game and pop gens quite fast. Or you can go find someone else after being sure the killer is not following you after the successful gen pop!

However, if you are doing them alone I have some tips. After completing a generator, it's a high probability that the killer will head towards you unless they are already after someone else. My advice is, if the killer begins a chase, you should lead them to another player and point, or lead them to another player and keep following them until the killer decides to chase them instead. This is the ultimate way to be selfish and maybe a little toxic, but we like it that way.

Step 2: Hide
This one is rather simple. If you get into a spot of trouble, perhaps your life is in danger, fear not dear reader! Your life will be okay, just hide in a locker and then move onto another locker or rocks. If you are on certain maps where the bushes are bigger I would even suggest to hide in those. I often hide in them because the killer never really expects you to hide there.

Step 3a: Did your teammates all die?
So, they all got hooked, or maybe that last player is on their second hook right now, praying you will be their knight in shining armour and save them... How naive...

HIDE, and I mean hide. Don't even consider trying to save them, you know the killer is going to be around somewhere.

You know that little thing you put on before the match started?
Wait.. I didn't tell you?
HhHhhhh... Okay, look at this:

1. Vigo's Blueprint - it makes the hatch spawn at the map's primary landmark

2. Annotated Blueprint - it makes the hatch spawn in / around the killer's shack

Okay, now you know to have those equipped & burnt. These will help in end game if everyone else around you dies. You know where to leg it to; killer shack or map landmark. I have won a lot of games just by using this offering, because most killer forget it's being used or forget it spawns there.

Step 3b: WHaaat? You're (almost) all still alive?
Now your main focus is leaving. You need to figure out where the killer is. Run in the opposite direction, towards the other gate. You kind of need to be stealthy, but you also need to be fast. Killer's get nasty in the last like 2 minutes, so be aware.

If you can open the gate, please don't leave immediately. You NEED to absolutely troll the killer. Crouch up and down, loop them, run back and forth, point, ANYTHING.

You did it? You got out?

Why are you crying? It was fine, you're alive! You can survive another day!!
Final Words

Thank you, reader, for getting this far. I hope this guide has served its purpose well and you now understand what it takes to survive a trial.

Dead by Daylight is a cruel, cruel world and each and every killer is evil. Some of them are silent, quiet, deadly, while others are so loud it's kind of obvious they're coming. Like The Clown, he's so big and loud it's so obvious when he is near. Not to mention that ugly laugh he has and the weird vape clouds he leaves everywhere; he really needs to stop vaping to be honest. The ability to play survivor well and thoroughly is a challenge in itself and if you manage to actually play like this and win then give yourself a pat on the back.

If you liked this guide I will make a killer one in the future.
