Description
In a vast desert, water resides at the bottom of a grand canyon, making fertile space extremely limited and the threat of Bad Tide even more potent than ever.

But beavers are clever. Perhaps the canyon itself can be used to bring life to this land...

heck yeah, ill have to try out starting a run with the new version.

but yeah having an alternate route to divert bad-tides through is a very important thing honestly. while it is possible to split the river into two channels to safely pass the bad-water through, it takes a huge amount to wood to do successfully. making it not as feasible early game.

especially combined with the limited space to make food and collect/store water.

i guess i could of tried a non diversion method but that is a challenging way to do it and leaves the player with no way to make new wood for a substantial time.

any always happy to give feedback, this is easily your best map.

Alright, made a bit of an adjustment to the map to make diverting fluids a little more feasible, adding in some tunnels carved through the cliffs where some water may have feasibly broken through at some point.

I'm not sure if it'll help with the mod use, though, as I mostly play without mods.

Thanks for the feedback! Honestly, I specifically made it so that the limited space and difficulty in diverting water early on is the point.

You should be able to stair to the top of the canyon relatively easily for extra space; I made sure the cliff behind the start was easily scaleable, if a bit of a trek, and the canyon itself should be wide enough to split in half in front of the colony for badwater diversion, though it won't get it completely out of contamination range the first few times.

I wanted to encourage creative uses of damming and dynamite :D

the only other thing i could note is that this map doesn't play well with the "Ebb and Flow" mod, as the players starting spot quickly becomes a flood plain if the flow rate increases much if at all, due to the default water levels hanging very very near the top edge even by the time it reaches your bend in the river. My first play attempt got wiped out after my entire starting area flooded and my beavers all starved/dehydrated to death.

I figured I'd give you a first comment on this after starting to try the map out. honestly a very well made map, it looks great and has tons of little hidden secrets.

I have but a handful of minor critics but this is among the best custom maps I've tried since getting the game.
I think the biggest grip i have is the lack of space in the starter area (Way better then some other maps) and lack any route to divert a bad tide, which can make an unaltered hard-mode play through hard to almost impossible to achieve during the early game. making assent to the upper levels a bit easier and a bit more room down in the starting area would help a lot.
past that the overhang opposite of the default start does make it a bit annoying to view your colony sometimes. There's also a lack of alternative starting spots.

I give this map an 7.5/10
could easily be a 8-9/10 with just a hint of tweaking
