Date: January, 2312

A normal routine, something so simple in our time, turned into an absolute nightmare. A jump gate malfunctioned causing the portal charge to turn crimson, far from the beautiful blue that radiated from the ring. A warning call to all ships inbound and outbound was sent out. A local control station worked to regain control unsure of what was about to happen. A destroyer had jumped to the gate to investigate the malfunction and why the jump ring was still unusable. Suddenly, the now blood red portal cracked with lightning almost forcing the ring to expand. Something was coming through, but from where? An unknown vessel had emerged and immediately started firing on civilian ships. The Hyperion moved to engage the ship. Several more unknown vessels slipped through the gate to face the destroyer. War has begun...
