Introduction
Royal Houses are exclusive allies on European maps. They provide a unique ability, new units and useful economic and military technologies. These technologies are staggered across multiple ages rather than being available in the Exploration Age like with other native alliances. In order to establish an alliance, you need to build a Trading Post on a Royal House.

This guide shows the base statistics from each royal unit. In-game statistics may vary to the base ones, according to the veterany of each unit, upgrades, etc.

Exclusive Royal House Alliances: France & Germany
Players can also access Royal House alliances from two civilizations: France and Germany. The Ancien Régime card grants exclusive access to the House of Bourbon when used with the French civilization, while the Prince-Electors card enables alliances with five different German Royal Houses when used with the Germans. These alliances are possible even if there are no Royal Houses present on the map.

Important Notes

Units from Royal Houses will now have population cost depending on the type of unit. Royal Infantry units will now have 1 population cost and Cavalry units with 1 and other ones with a 2 population cost.

The royal unit training limit is also increased significantly.

Ancien Régime - France

This card sends a Royal Embassy and forms an alliance with the Royal House of Bourbon, allowing you to train Royal Musketeers and Royal Dragoons. These units now cost 1 and 2 population respectively. This card also gives you access to the Royal Tax and Bourbon Reforms technologies. With the Royal Embassy you can train Native Scouts and also upgrade your royal units from the Bourbon House.

Bourbon Reforms 300 300 300 - Available:
Grants 20% of resources spent on technologies as XP by 60, 140, 200 and 320 XP for each Age from Exploration to Industrial Age respectively. Up to 2,000 XP.

Royal Tax 150 150 - Available:
Grants 35 coin for each building owned by the player up to 10,000 coin.


Prince-Electors - Germany

This card sends a Royal Embassy and allows you to choose from five German Royal Houses: Hanover, Habsburg, Oldenburg, Wettin, and Wittelsbach. You can only access one Royal House. The technologies from each alliance are disabled.


German Houses
Certain German Royal Houses have a more limited roster of units due to the absence of technologies that unlock additional units. This is the case with the Habsburg Royal House.
Royal Units
Royal Units are classified as Native Warriors. They can also be classified as infantry, heavy and light infantry, cavalry, light and heavy cavalry. With some more specific classifications such as Gunpowder trooper, Musket infantry, Rifle Infantry, Gunpowder cavalry, etc.

Royal Units benefit from City Cards related to Native Warriors. They also benefit from Arsenal technologies, Church Technologies, Infantry and Cavalry City Cards and from other Native Post Technologies depending on their unit type.



Royal Units function as auxiliary forces to your main army, although they can also serve as a leading force depending on the enemy army composition, the availability of other Royal Houses, the availability of City Cards focused on Native Units in your Deck, as well as exploitable counters and damage multipliers within a match.

French elite Dragoon that hit targets at a higher range and performs well in melee combat. Can trample enemies. Good against cavalry.

Royal House Ability
Royal March
For the next 15 seconds, the player's units get +5% speed, except for infantry and villagers, which get +10%, and shock infantry, which get +7.5%. This ability has a cooldown of 300 seconds.

Cadence Support: The Drummer grants +10% speed and -5.25% Rate of Fire to friendly units in a radius of 34. Does not stack.

Inspiring Flag: The Drummer plants an Inspiring House of Hanover Flag at the target location which increases the attack of nearby military units (except Artillery) and military buildings in 10%. The Inspiring Flag has an Area of Effect and Line of Sight of 14 which increases by 10 in every Age. Also, it will spawn one Irish Brigadier, one Highlander and one Harquebusier. The ability has 360 seconds cooldown.

Advances the player to the Imperial Age and delivers 1 Factory Wagon. Costs less for each point of XP earned.

Öresund Customs 250 250 - Available:
War Ships and defensive buildings now trickle a tiny sum of Coin. War ships and defensive buildings auto gather coin equal to 0.05% of their total cost and 0.1% of their wood cost.

Docks work much faster and can construct an additional Battleship. Dock and Port training and research work rate +40%. Battleship build limit +1

Royal House Ability
Greek Revolution
Spawns more Sacred Band Infantry the longer the player waits (up to 20 maximum), and improves Villager in combat for 120 seconds based on the current Age. Similar to the Canada revolution, the ability temporarily sets Villagers' base ranged attack damage to a much higher amount, and starting in the Fortress Age it also improves their hit points.
House of Vasa - Units

Swedish Skirmisher that can fight in the frontline thanks to his high hitpoints and hand damage. Benefits from Promotions.
