Nicknamed the "Krinkov" in the West, the AKS-74U is a compact carbine variant of the AK-74, developed in the late 1970s for Soviet airborne troops, tank crews, and special forces. With its short 8.1-inch barrel and folding metal stock, the AKS-74U merges the firepower of an assault rifle with the portability of an SMG. Though less accurate at long range, it excels in close-quarters combat, vehicle operations, and fast assault tactics. Its iconic cone-shaped flash suppressor became a symbol of Soviet urban warfare.
