Cold War has this "tactical rifle" class dividing rifles based on their firemodes. Full-auto rifles were designated assault rifles -that I made- and burst/semi auto rifles got put under this tactical rifle class. Except the AUG, weapons put here make sense to the designation. This addon contains four tactical rifles that fills 80% of the class in game, leaving only one (very awful) weapon that was added post launch to this interesting lineup. Expect that as the next DLC release.


1) Type 63

"Semi-auto tactical rifle. High damage and reliable accuracy at long range with modest ammo capacity. Fair visibility and control while firing."

Another weapon that I never touched before making this addon. One of few weapons that they named correctly. I'd say I like it overall, didn't create a lot of issues in the making. You can switch to full auto like in the real Type 63 if you want to hit nothing and break your shoulder instead. I wish they made the bayonet usable with a special animation. Kinda like the ironsights.

Never used it in cold war but if you land a headshot you can erase someone in 2 hits which is crazy.

Customization is alright really; you got the same old barrels, some ak mags and some unique stocks.


2) M16

"3-round burst tactical rifle. Excellent burst fire accuracy when aiming down sights, and high damage in short range encounters."

Making an M16 here seemingly comes with a lot of responsibility and I tried to fulfill at least some of it by merging the campaign M16A1 and multiplayer/zombies M16A2 models into one gun. This means you can choose A1 parts alongside the regular available attachments. Some (or many) may not be fully satisfied with the customization options of this beloved rifle but expecting much from cold war in terms of that seems like a wet dream. This weapon was also not made before by me.

This gun is kinda amazing in zombies and multiplayer (if you dont miss the burst) but I chose to use assault rifles and smgs instead so I don't have much experience in game to talk about.

Like I said, the customization on this M16 is probably underwhelming compared to others out there, within reason. But this does not mean there are no unique options. You can change the receiver to the full-auto A1 variant, there are short barrels with round and triangular handguards, a bunch of shared and exclusive stocks, optic rail mount that also acts as a backup iron sight, and the other usual cold war attachments. I did think of implementing a flat top receiver from the XM4 but then decided to respect the devs decision to keep them separate.


3) AUG

"Full-auto tactical rifle. High damage with moderate recoil and slower movement speeds when firing. Built in optic provides 1.5x magnification."

As you just read, I could not tolerate a burst AUG a second time. The AUG is back from ArcCW. Being more familiar with it did have some efficiency advantages but also came with boredom from repetition. Really do wish they put something else in place of this gun and make the AUG an assault rifle. Also the empty dualmag animation is one of my favorite animations on cold war.

Being a burst AUG gave no motivation to use it at all in cold war. Shouldn't surprise anyone.

Not much to speak of really customization wise as its another cold war attachment copy pasting job from the devs. Barely any unique attachments except some stocks. Usable integrated foregrip is probably the only thing worth mentioning.


4) DMR 14

"Semi-auto tactical rifle. Increased fire rate with minimal recoil. Maintains reliable damage over longer range encounters."

Exactly 4 years have gone by since I made the DMR 14, my second ever weapon. This is actually the first ARC9 gun I finished back in 2023 that I haven't posted due to the switch I made to a weapon class release system instead of individual weapons. So this gun just aged for 2 years till tactical rifles won the poll, and you can expect how old it got that I had to remaster it again.

Got a couple of blueprints for this gun in cold war but haven't used it enough to write much more here. Don't remember seeing anyone else use it either.

There are some weird looking mags and cool stocks you can use. Barrels are fine too. Attachment copy pasting is seemingly a lot less in this weapon.

Mind that content on my github might be broken or sub-standard as they have not been polished yet or enough for a full workshop release. -I have changed the method and source for making my materials. I now use textures from Warzone and different tools. It is both faster to do and looks better in my opinion and this may affect the filesizes. I plan on replacing the materials in older ARC9 weapon packs with better ones when I have the time. Massive thanks to ZaihnY and MushroomGuy.

Oh, neat.
I would leave the usual "weapon-basis-babble" comment, but there's not really much more to say than "the m16 is stupidly powerful in literally every use case and completely wrecks every other rifle in the game" and the like.

@Nod Lucario Yeah thats something i forgot existed. Checked back on what i did for previous assault rifles and it seems they all use pulse ammo regardless of caliber. I like your idea of distributing smg ammo depending on the caliber used per weapon. Thanks for bringing it up

Question, is there gonna be an update which changes the ammo types of all the weapons?

Like having 5.56 and 5.45 weapons using SMG rounds? And 7.62 (NATO and Warsaw Pact 7.62s) using Pulse?

Since I view the SMG rounds as more lighter rounds, whereas Pulse rounds are more heavy hitting.

If not, then no sweat, it's just something I wanted to bring up.
