Introduction
If you've read the other installments in the TF College series, this should be familiar to you. If you're new to this series, welcome! In this guide, we'll be talking about the pyro and what sort of things he can do. (Yes, it's a he. Don't say otherwise, it was scientifically proven to be a he.)

This is Digitic approved.

OH EHM EHFF JEE BUTT UR NOT DIGITIC Y R U RITING THIS GYDE ITS HIS SERIES???!?!?!?!?!!!!1!one

Digitic is busy writing another little guide series on intended weapon uses and dealing with some complications in real life. Since he hasn't made another installment in this series, I offered to make the next installment for him. He agreed, and here it is. I'm a...substitute professor, if you will. If you're not comfortable with me writing this guide and not Digitic, refer to Rule 93.
Range
The Pyro, at first glance, might seem overpowered.

He can deal immense amounts of damage within mere seconds, he has amazing health, speed, and a smallish hitbox, he can kill enemies after his death, and can deflect projectiles right back at their launchers.

What makes the Pyro balanced, then?

His range.

The Pyro has gigantic problems at killing from a distance. His flamethrower can't reach very far, his shotgun only does about 5 damage at long range if you're lucky enough to hit someone, his flare gun is slow and makes a loud noise as it approaches, and his melee is - well - melee range. To actually damage anyone, you need to get up in their face one way or another, which can be difficult for some beginners.

Unless you W+M1. Which you shouldn't.

Don't be a noob.
Afterburn
Remember when I mentioned the pyro having the ability to kill after his death?

Well, let's put it this way: What happens when you light someone on fire? They burn in agony as their flesh turns into mere ashes on the ground.

Too gruesome? eh...oh well.

The Pyro can light people on fire using his flamethrower or flare gun. Ergo, they get set on fire. They begin to take 3 damage every half second for 10 seconds, resulting in a total of 60 extra damage if your enemy doesn't deal with the afterburn right away using water or a health pack. In that case, they're extinguished immediately.

Also, Medics can extinguish their teammates by healing them. Though it's not instant, it puts out the flame significantly faster than waiting the pain out.
Flame-Retardant
One passive ability of the Pyro is that he is constantly flame-retardant. If you try to light him on fire, the flames will go away instantly. This, however, does not mean he's immune to fire damage. He can still be damaged by a continuous stream of flames, he just won't be alight after he runs away. The Demoman can achieve this same effect with a certain weapon, but that's for another guide.
Conclusion
Well, that appears to be it for this guide. Short but sweet, I like to call it.

We're gonna try and release these on a regular basis, as long as nothing gets in the way of time. These guides were supposed to be released weekly, but the last installment was four months ago...yeah...we're working on it.

If you're looking for some more guides to check out, here's the rest of Digitic's guides. He's really good at this sort of stuff, and he made some other series like the Evolutionary Tree guides and a new miniseries he's working on about intended weapon uses. Go check 'em out!

I've got guides too, though not as many. I've got one on Medeival mode and DeGroot Keep that I made, it even gives some good loadout ideas for the chaos that is cp_degrootkeep. I'm also working on one about Soldier banners that should be out in the near future.

If you haven't seen the last installment in this series, then it's right here. It goes into detail about the Soldier class and the powerhouse that he is.

And finally, A link to the "Tips, Tricks, and Subclasses" Steam Group. This is where we update you guys on these guides, do periodical meet-ups, and even do a raffle or two on occassion.

Thanks for taking the time to read this guide (Unless you just scrolled down all the way), it's really appreciated. See you with the next installment!

Pyro is not overpowered in any way.
I personally am playing in UGC Asia and I can tell you
Pyro is insanely underpowered.

Scout has mobility and capability to dodge, with insane burst damage.
Demo has crowd control and insane dps and mobility
Soldier has insane mobility and burst damage, also a good consistent damage dealer
Heavy is fat ( High health pool ), great damage dealer
Spy can relay valuable information, one of two instant kill classes
Sniper has the ability to kill from long range, and the other instant kill class
Medic obviously uber and healing
Engi Sentries , Dispensers, Teleporters.

Pyro only a measly 153 DPS, max if all particles hit (Never going to happen)
Its reflect can be countered by splash damage.
In the event your using degreaser + flare, your DPS is still relatively low, just 153 + 90 burst dmg from a flare crit.
Even pyro counters other pyros with the reserve shooter (That weapon is horrible)

so sad life for pyro
