[DNS] Lazuli Block-II Command Destroyer

One of the few Dominion sub-cruiser vessels to be given the 'Authority' designate in it's 3-letter classification code (FAA; Formation Armored Authority), the Block-II Lazuli exists in no small part due to stressors on fleet infrastructure. Committing standard command cruisers to lighter formations had quickly become inadvisable as the Zendikar conflict escalated, and the need for smaller, more cost effective coordination vessels to fill holes in the frontline command net was apparent.

Nearly a complete ground-up overhaul of the Lazuli, astonishingly little of it's interior remains unmodified. Some armor was sacrificed in noncritical areas to accommodate a drastic increase in crew capacities and facilities, including a better medical suite and multiple operations rooms for coordinating fleet efforts. It's armament was largely stripped down for additional command and control infrastructure; it retains it's artillery mountings to provide backline support fire in combat, but all secondary mounts have been replaced with lighter gatling weapons for point defense against strike craft and incoming ordinance.

The most important addition provided by the Block-II upgrade program is the command and control equipment reverse engineered from recovered Guild technology, deciphered by the Alikaid Research Institute. The navy expects a fast rollout of the upgrade program despite the extensiveness of the overhaul; most Block-Is have already been mothballed and can be moved immediately to yards for refit
