My So-Called Toy

Description
Overview :
Adds a variety of toys to the game.

Confirmed to work with Build 42.
MP and Split-screen play are not supported.

Features :
  • Capsule Toy (Gacha Gacha)
    • Capsule Toy can be found at Giga Mart, Shopping Malls, and Spiffo’s.
    • You can check the lineup via the Capsule Toy's context menu.
    • Insert money to get a capsule.
    • Opening the capsule gives you a toy and a mini book.
    • Toys vary by type - you can play with them, use them, or display them.
    • You can read the mini book from the context menu.
  • More toy types are planned and will be added over time

Q&A :
  • Can I use this mod on an existing save?
    Yes, this mod is safe to use with existing save data.
    For the Capsule Toy system, machines will still spawn automatically when you revisit locations you've already been to. This is because it does not rely on vanilla container loot mechanics, so it works independently of whether the area was previously loaded.

  • I emptied a Capsule Toy machine. Will it get restocked?
    Unfortunately, no - there's no one left in this world to refill them.
    Try exploring other areas to see if any untouched machines remain.

Known Issues :
  • Nothing

Future plans :
  • Bug fix (if it exists)
  • Add other toys

Release Notes :
  • v1.0 - New release.
    Please refer to "Change Notes" for the older history.

Thank you so much for playing through all the sliding puzzles - completing SP.4 is no small feat! As for the “something happens?!” mentioned on the gacha card... well, you’ve already experienced it. The true effect is deliberately hidden, but there's a hint in the title of the final puzzle itself. It might not shout, but quietly, it does something very important - especially if you're in a certain... condition.

Haha, love the reference! Actually, the name "My So-Called Toy" is part of a little naming theme I’ve been using - inspired by The Ataris’ “My So-Called Life.” But hey, a bit of Venetian Snares chaos energy doesn’t hurt either!

@Quilava
To be honest, I don't plan to re-upload or remove the current image. The cover art itself is actually an homage to a famous photo of Björk wearing the Pump Fury - it’s an essential part of what makes this mod “Pump Pury” to me. I see it as more than just a shoe mod; it's a playful tribute wrapped in a little pop-art flair.

Thank you for considering the Gumball machine @ PePePePePeil

I have completed Spiffo's Sliding Puzzle (SP.4) and did not notice any "something happens?!" I don't seem to have any other interaction apart from playing the said puzzle again.

Cant believe they flag your shoes mod, my guess is some arse report about the image of the girl show some panty, i saw some modder complain about thing like that before in other game, bet that how it get flagged

Steam recently getting more strict because of Visa & Mastercard pressure via third party, it best that you just reupload the mod with image removed

@Sneezingprince
Thanks for trying out so many of my mods.
I'm really happy to hear you're enjoying them. :cherrypie:

@SAYAYO
Yep, looks like it's time to start picking up all those coins you used to ignore.

@Xeno
Sorry, this mod is for Build 42 only. Because of major map changes in B42, the machines are placed based on new shop layouts. Also, each capsule toy lineup has its own unique behavior (some are even playable or wearable), and keeping compatibility with B41 would be quite complex.

@moonracer
Keychains are definitely a great fit for capsule toys. I was actually planning to include them, but B42 added quite a few new key rings, so I decided to hold off. That said, I’ll probably turn the idea into something else fun instead!

@Slvggy
Thank you! More fun stuff coming soon :)

@Hy
Yes, this mod is safe to use with existing save data. I've also included more details about this in the Q&A section, so feel free to check it out if you're curious.

@Jday
Thank you! I'm really glad you liked it-Spiffo approves too, I think. :spiffo:

@John FBI
Please do not eat the toys.
There is a choking hazard, especially for small children. 😉

Gumball machines aren't very common in Japan, where capsule toy machines like the one I added are more typical. That said, a gumball machine would fit really well in Knox. The basic system could be reused from the current gacha setup, though I would need to prepare custom graphics for the machine itself. I'll add it to my TODO list. Thanks for the great suggestion.

@Pompadour Nautice
Thanks! Some machines are purely for collection, like the miniature Pump Pury series. Collecting and displaying these little items is such a fun part of the game. I’ve prepared a variety of lineups and plan to keep adding more, so I hope you’ll try to collect them all.

@Strider
Some of the toys in the lineup can actually be used or played with in-game. I’m planning to keep adding more that help players forget the zombie world for a moment and enjoy a bit of childhood fun

Love this. I think a set of key chains could be fun.

Does this work in B41?
