Red 31 "Tomcatski" Aggressor F14A

Description
I find Aggressor patterns to be more interesting in many cases than regular modern national liveries. There's more experimentation, the designers are trying to do interesting things with the aircraft - changing shapes, profiles, highlighting similarities with potential adversary aircraft while minimizing differences.

This livery represents BuNo. 159855, an F-14A assigned to Squadron VF-126, the "Bandits"at Miramar. It served as "Red 31" or the "Tomcatski" from 1976 to 1991 with the Pacific Fleet adversaries. This livery is intended to simulate an Su-27 Flanker not only in camouflage pattern but also with white and black used to highlight or hide edges and shape other pilot's perceptions of the airframe in flight. In the 90s this airframe received a modified variant of this pattern replacing the red stars and renumbering to 34 for use at Navy Fighter weapons School (TOPGUN) before being written off in the late 90s.

Made using thor's Dirt N Grime kit.
