Seoul Metro 4000 series

Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation's Line 4 rolling stock is classified as 4000 series. The first batch of trains were manufactured by Hyundai in 1993. These trains were the first for the Seoul Metropolitan Subway Corporation to use VVVF inverter control and stainless steel car bodies. In 1994, a second batch was manufactured by Daewoo. The basic specifications are the same as the first batch, but the passenger doors have been changed to a metal-clad type, and the inverter equipment has been changed to one manufactured by Alstom. A third batch was manufactured by Hyundai Rotem in 2020 for the opening of the Jinjeop Line. The exterior is almost identical to the new 2000 series 4th batch cars on Line 2. Between 2023 and 2024, Dawonsys manufactured a 4th batch of 21 trains to start replacing older ones. A 5ft batch, manufactured by Woojin wa introduced in 2024 to replace the first and second batches of cars introduced in 1993 and 1994 exclusively for DC sections.
