Seoul Metro 5000 series

Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation's Line 5 rolling stock is classified as 5000 series. The train consists of eight cars. The first batch was manufactured between 1994 and 1996, while the second batch was built in 1996. All of the cars in this series were manufactured with a loan from the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund (OECF), and its basic design was also used on the 6000 , 7000 , and 8000 series trains. The third batch, built by Hyundai Rotem, was introduced in preparation for the extension of the Henan Line in 2018. The fourth batch of cars were manufactured by Woojin Industrial Systems between June 2020 and June 2022 to replace the aging first batch of cars. The fifth and sixth batches will be manufactured by Dawonsys between 2025 and 2028 to fully replace the last 50 units from the original batches.
