Description
Blue Mining Headquarters

Exploration Mode Submission.
All structures well within size limits.
Small asteroid mining facility built into asteroid.
No custom blocks,
All important (ie mining / power) systems linked.
Base defence turrets linked but seperate to production
Any rotors used are not used for anything critial or important. (so changes in size speed or functionality will not hurt anything)
No pistors were used or harmed while making this feature.. :P

Blue mining is all about efficiency, and staff safety. All large ships and bases have the basic facilities required to function. But always contain multiple safety or backup systems for life support. They are a green minded faction - they favour solar power although do not rely on it entirely. They likewise use their surroundings to their maximum, not purely relying on constructed facilities, but often placing critical key assets deep within the protection of an asteroid to shield it from the hazards of rogue meteorites, solar storms, or casual pirate activity. This is also reflected in their defence policy. The bases are built within these natural protections in the event that their usual space defences (eg ammunition) fails.

Blue mining assets can often continue to function where other factions would have long been annhilated by war or asteroid storms. Some blue mining facilities have been known to still function even after up to 80% of them have been damaged, and all the active defences have failed. Abandoned blue mining facilities when encounted in deep space offer an excellent refuge for the weary space traveller; because not only do blue mining care about the survival of their own crews, but feel it is their duty to help anyone else finding themself in trouble later on. After all if a blue mining crew member found himself stuck - he would appreciate finding a helpful island of safety in the harsh ocean of space; so they extend this hospitality to other travellers too.

Their assetts can be identified by their predominantly blue coloration. In instances where further identification may be required in congested space lanes they will typically use black as their secondary, and to a lesser extent green, but usually reserve this for base identification.

Blue Mining Safety Policy -
BASES
All Blue mining bases are required to contain multiple power systems-
Primary - renewable - eg solar.
Secondary - Single Basic reactor; large or small
Third - emergency power (usually a small reactor)
Fourth - disaster recovery power (usually a single battery)

Blue mining bases usually contain a minimum of defences - a single turret offering protection from rogue asteroids covering main assets or approaches. Interior defence policy require that command centres have at least 1 turret guarding the entrance, and contain at least 1 emergency exit. These defences are often linked on a seperate system from the production systems to prevent accidental wastage of resources.

Command centres usually contain an armory where ammuntiion is stored.

For more proactive defence a single dedicated fighter is usually reserved, but owing to the wastefulness of this it is usually only the bare minimum needed to be considered a "fighter" and will usually be only lightly armed. These ships can often still be found even in abandoned blue mining facilities, although they should be considered little more than an armed escape pod - due to usually being stored near an emergency exit.

Heavy Machinery
Blue mining usually have a dedicated mining machine and ore loading and processing facility. For the sake of efficiency they also have less specialised equipment, which can be reconfigured to suit a particular mission such as cargo transfer, mining, welding, salvage etc.

They will also often have a small solar goods transport; considering uranium too much a luxury for simply shuttling resources between facilities.

SURVEY SHIPS
All Blue Mining Survey ships are also required to contain backup power systems -
Primary - Large reactor. This should be powered down when ship not in use!
Secondary - Small Reactor. This should be used when conducting research and surveys.
Emergency - All survey ships are required to install enough solar panels to maintain life support in the event of an accident!
Defence - Blue mining is not a war faction, but survey ships are required to have at least bare minimum of defences in the event of an asteroid shower; and are equipped with a missile battery which should only be used to disable attackers in order to retreat. They should also have 1 or 2 ships in the hanger for use in mining or defence.

Survey ships are considered key assets and fighters should be used to distract the enemy while the ship escapes.

Once again thank you for joining Blue Mining. Where we care..
