from my tries, the speed is extraordinarily slow, yet the money build cost of solar sails hex is the same as rocket engine hex, and the manufacturing costs are huge
the only advantage of those is that they have no maintenance, which allows to have tremendous numbers of them I suppose.
tbh I think a few high speed ion engine scouts do the job just as well, since you need less of them.
I guess those can have limited case by case usage scenarios. But still I think the manufacturing costs should be lower, or else the money build cost
I mean: armor has no internal space if used on the outside of a ship. if you did the same with the solar sails, it could be used for non-FTL-players as a little boost (the ships are still a little more expensive and take more time to build, but they gain some more acceleration and don't cost more upkeep.)
then it would effectively work just like an actual solar sail and could be used for non-ftl-factions as additional thrust and speed source.
