Description
Say hello to M.H.A.R.P.H.I.N. the mechanically morose counterpart. A standalone companion with over 300 lines of custom dialogue.


WHO IS M.H.A.R.P.H.I.N.

Perhaps the question should be; what is Mharphin? Unfortunately, Not even he knows the answer to that question. His memory circuits are apparently a little rusty.. Is he a Dwemer Centurion? He certainly looks like one. But then again, looks aren't everything are they..

WHAT DOES HE OFFER?

300 lines of custom mechanical melancholy musings and moronic mutterings:

A Slightly custom mesh (hey my first attempt)

Relaxation mode: Tune in with him to hear a few rather strange and bizarre transmissions. Is it music or something else?

Location Analysis. Mharphin may offer the odd insight about your current location.

Diagnostic mode: Mharphin will gladly tell you how he's feeling... So it's best not to ask.

New weapons or magic
Lore friendliness

He's just your metal friend whose fun to be with!


WHERE TO FIND HIM:

Mharphin is located at the base of the Shrine of Azura.


UNDER THE HUB

Inspired by Douglas Adams's paranoid Android, Mharphin is yet another npc from the Carry On Skyrim W.I.P. Quest. This is not the quest! I thought Mharphin would make an interesting follower, and by doing so, it has allowed me to iron out a few of his basic functions such as playing music and his look. Currently Mharphin only has a few hundred lines to entertain you with, but this will possibly increase at some stage in the future. Additionally, he has the ability to play a little music to help you relax in times of stress..

Note: All music is either my own, public domain or midi renditions of appropriately odd classics.



SLIGHT BUGS

Please bare in mind that Mharphin is very much still a work in progress, there is certainly still room for improvement. I just wanted to give you all a little something for Christmas.. Please notify me via the comments page if you happen to stumble upon any bugs aside from those listed here:


Compatibility: Mharphin is completely standalone from the vanilla game, so there really shouldn't be any compatibility issues... With exception to any mod that alters follower functionality. If so, its best to load him below any such mod.

NO DIALOGUE: If you find that Mharphin won't talk to you, try these two things first:
1. Check your load order, if using follower control mods, place Mharphin below.
2. Try reloading the autosave that was generated when fast travelling to Mharphins location.

Combat: Sometimes when in combat, Mharphin will cease attacking but will still taunt and engage enemies. In some ways this is quite useful because he becomes a great distraction for your enemies whilst you plan your attack. This only happens occasionally but is always resolved when provided with new encounters.

Mobility: Mharphin is a centurion! Although I have reduced his size somewhat, he still may struggle accessing the odd area.

SFX Levels: If his animation effects are louder than his dialogue, I recommend that you turn down your master SFX level and enable subtitles.

Im having the same issue with defeating P.R.I.M.E and then the couch forcefield goes rite back up when i get near it. If anyone has figured this out pleeeaaasseee help

(Minor spoiler) So I just defeated P.R.I.M.E (i.e. flipped all self-destruct levers). However, the protective field around the couch is still up and will not lower. I am stuck in the boss room and cannot leave. I would travel back to a previous save, but the biggest problem is I have no saves outside the dungeon. I would very much like some help regarding this problem, as this character is very important to me. Please help!

Now he's a follower with a quest ( or is it the other way around? )

@M3RKJORA Yep. It's an issue with enemy A.I. Try out other Enemy follower mods and you'll get the same issue. Basically he will only fight (Rise to battle alert) once in any cell. I spent months testing and trying to solve this issue (and tested other followers too) and always the same. Personally, I think it's hard coded into the ememy a.i.

However, he does make a good distractive "Tank". It's a small issue when you get down to it really.

However, for update V2 I have created a workaround involving battle spells, but the update will only be available on the nexus when it is first released. Check it out..
