I appreciate your feedback, but I think I'll keep the level as it is, to make sure everyone has a chance to complete it. Being as long as it is, the level can be quite frustrating with higher difficulty.
I'd recommend playing the orignal Fort Corydon with all its lasers and tough guards :)
Having both less lasers and no gendarmes makes it pretty easy (but still long :A). I feel you could probably get away with either placing the high number of lasers back in or (re)replacing all the guards with whatever harder ones they used to be (but not adding more than the number you have here) and still get away with a SP friendly map.
