That's standard procedure for me. The only time I've ever broken that rule, is with a small container in my second mobile base submission.
@Desimatorg: There are actually quite a few doors, but I'm guessing you're talking about a hangar door.
There is no hangar door for 2 reasons:
1. The ship is too small to fit a door.
2. The ship was submitted to KSH for them to consider putting it in exploration. One of the guidelines for that is to avoid using pistons or rotors. A hangar door would need one or both of these.
@SlayerDeathicus: I understand what you mean about the shape looking inappropriate, but there is a very good reason behind the shape - I was designing this thing to be a 1-person ship, so only one hallway would be needed. I also wanted a hangar space that still allowed access to the rest of the ship (Hangar is the only entrance), so offsetting the hallway was needed, leading to the intentionally asymmetrical design.
