Make sure to leave the other cube to the exit side of the death grid. Then place the laser output portal in that one surface behind the square button. Then use the other cube to activate the / receptor. Retrieve the other cube, go to the other side of the glass and use it to activate the two remaining receptors. Take the free cube, and put it on the square button.
I think this is how I remember doing it. I'm assuming this is an alternate solution because it has nothing to do with the other comments, and I never had to use the x receptor to disable the small fizzler.

I think I found an alternate solution? Just record yourself placing the two portals in that tiny place (between a small fizzler and a fence) and waiting a long time. Place one cube in the middle in a way that it will activate the / receptor by receiving a laser either from the recorded portals I just mentioned or from the two portal surfaces in the laser area. Activate the recording. Then place the latter portals.

Yeah, I see your point. This was just the most convenient spot to place the button. But it can get on your nerves, I agree!

This would have been a great map if not for that upside down cube button that is all too easy to fail to activate , requiring 2 rounds of recording just to be able to try again.
