Hi there.

Yeah, that’s deep.

While we let that sink in, I present to you this add-on to a couple of our mods. And that’s an important thing:
For now, THIS WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT OUR GREEK PACK or OUR PERGAMON&SARDES MOD.
Links right there.

What are we adding? A relevant infantry reform, with Pergamon abandoning the obsolete pikemen and the mixed gallograecian infantry and replacing them with a heavier sword unit. This Pergamenian Infantry is lighter than the usual Thorax swords but is guaranteed to get **** done against sub-regular infantry. Once the reform hits (with Mercenaries tech) they will also make a heavy presence in the pergamenian garrisons (up to 5 units), similarly to how the Romans can field large amounts of sword units in their own.

We are also bringing in a mounted unit, the Attalid Light Cavalry, supposed to make up a smart and reliable cavalry bridging between citizen cav and Thessalians. It’s not involved in any reform and will require the third level heavy barracks.

As a side note, the Thessalians had a minor reskin and now can sport a chainmail in alternative to the linothoraxes, in imitation to the vanilla Noble Cavalry.

Overview: we like to think that this mod (especially with the infantry reform) will make the pergamenian army hopefully particular, in the way that there's the light garrisons on one side (sort of late roman Limes guard) with thorakitai, light swordsmen and light cavalry, and the good but nimble royal guard (with the mounted nobles, the agema spears and our royal swordsmen) for the serious engagements.

One of the reasons why this is an add-on and not a patch to our mods is that someone might still want to use those pikes. Another one is that we are intrinsically evil.

Please note that the screenshots were taken with other mods enabled (I’m that lazy), both ours and from other guys, like Sebidee’s linothoraxes, Mackles’ hoplons and Thunderbolt II’s Notitia Dignitatum. Their features might or might not be spotted in the screens but I’m reporting this anyway because fair’s fair.

Do enjoy.

Ok, thanks

The legionaries come with the Barracks IV research. Usually they are a replacement for thorax swordsmen, but since Pergamon hasn't got any, they'll just pop into existence from scratch.

Do you retrain any unit into them or are they brand new?

Which technology do you need for them? Because i thougth they were only in custom like with the persian expansion mod and all the hellenic units in the custom b they have.Since pergamon has them they are covered. And btw i have quite some of your mods and they are really great.

Agema is a state of mind. Just think of the Spartans or the roman legionaries as well which could be considered as elite units by other nations, yet they were mainline.
And the Perg. Infantry is pretty good if you consider they are also a garrison unit (and you are not the Roman Empire.).
If you wish a legion-like army, it doesn't sound as odd to me to make a first line of Infantry and second line of Agema. You are simply merging the legion concept with greek elitism. Not considering the literal hellenic legionaries you get later if you are using the Greek pack.
Either way, I believe you have the tools to play Pergamon as you wish.

Also can't really use principes since romans got destroyed and i did not get to even know them

Well yeah i guess you're right but i don't like having agema units as mainline, feels unnatural and pergaminians get beaten easily by other sword units like thoraxes, and thureos hoplites and thorax spears are spear units, and the point is to have a romanized greek kingdom with swords

Balance and variety. :P
And I didn't want to show them in clothes.

Why do pergaminian infantry have only 15 base armour, shouldnt they have some more? Especially since they are shown wearing linothoraxes.

Anyway you could put this up on an off steam download? ;)
