Description
This was a asset I purchased for my map in progress rp_metro. I figured people would want to have it as a subscribable model, so hear you go!

What's included:
  • One sexy coke vending machine

Development story:
So porting this model was such a pain in the ass (probably because this is my first model I've brough to the Source Engine), and took me almost a dozen hours, if not a couple nights to finally get a finished product that I was okay with.

First there was buying the model. I purchased this model off of TurboSquid for $12. It came in a zip with different file formats such as obj, 3ds, fbx, etc. It also came with the zip of all the textures, which let me tell you was a challenge to figure out how to apply them at first. The model was orignally made in 3DS Max by who ever made the model, but I work in Cinema 4D, so I had to use one of the 3d model exports that weren't all that great. Once all that stuff got sorted out, I baked the textures onto a single file the size of roughly 6000x6000 with supersampling of 2. I probably had to bak e the textures atleast 6 or 7 times before everything worked out well. Then I fired up CrazyBump and make a nice normal map (or bump map) so that the model would light nicely in maps. I tried adding a specular too the model, but I can't quite figure out how to do it properly, so maybe a future update will have a better specular map? Time will tell. Then I compiled everything from the .smd to the .vtf's and the vtm's and used GUIStudioMDL to make the final product. So long story short, this is what my workflow looked like:

Bought model > Baked Textures in Cinema 4D > Imported to Blender and Exported to SMD format > Imported to MilkShape as SMD and applied the baked textures from earlier and exported as another SMD > made a .qc file that told GUIStudioMDL what materials and models to put together, what it should feel like, and where to put them > Final product > Gmod Workshop.

That's my story and Im sticking to it :P

Oh and the thumbnail isn't ingame. It was a VRAY Render of the obj model.

I was hoping I could have ported this model to L4D2 with your permission but I noticed you said you bought the model.
