2015.03.01 v2 Update
I've worked on the wear map alpha as the the top right side seemed to wear severely while the ejector didn't wear at all, that has been fixed in the current version!

I'd like to say thanks to everyone who has upvoted, favourited, shared or left feedback, I'm very much overwhelmed by the response! If you would like to keep abreast of what I'm working on please follow my Workshop, or join my steam group SWAGCORP where I post new submissions. Since Friday I've received an unmanageable volume of friend requests and due to account limitations and practicality will not be able to accept them, however if you would like to send a message please drop a note at SWAGCORP - Thank you!

I had a big smile on my face making this as it screams fun! Below is some info for those interested in the details:

The TEC9 | REKT IX
It’s coming up to a year since I submitted the ‘Rekt’ sticker to the workshop, which after last minute inclusion in the game turned out to be the sticker I see the most (out of all the ones I’ve made) on other players guns; so it was a natural progression to think about making a skin from the artwork. I hear the term ‘Rekt nine’ all the time, even prior to the recent tec-9 buff. So I went about translating it to a gun skin.

Obviously there are no holographic skins, so I started with the paper version. Thus it began as a bit of an abomination; the primary colour-scheme looked too infantile and in my eyes didn’t lend itself well to a gun skin. After consideration I shifted the background colours to a more palatable orange/magenta which incidentally appear in the stickers holographic effects, I also knocked back the title block colour as I felt it gelled better.

I couldn’t have the sticker repeated all over the important sections of the skin as it would be overkill, plus many of the UVs are mirrored down the center making it impossible, so I added some additional symmetrical elements - namely the smiley sticker on the bolt (which I killed to tie in with the theme), and also a modified skull and crossbones which when viewed from the side read 9 in roman numerals. The ‘IX’ below the main title block on the side of the weapon was a late addition to tie in with this and fill a gap. I also added in extra halftones to tie in with the original pop-art lexicon featured in the sticker, but also some graffiti splats and drips in areas that needed an element of detail.

One minor setback in the design is the UVs on the left face of the gun are duplicated to the opposite side meaning (I believe) lefties will see it backwards - this was unavoidable as the main image is the title block so it had to appear on that side, but hopefully they can appreciate the graphical execution rather than the legibility, which despite appearing backwards still looks pretty cool, like some esoteric graffiti.

I’m not averse to making alterations if I agree with the points and have time to implement them so please do leave feedback!
