FFE MP Iron Front Training Base (IFA3) v1-2

Description
Welcome to FFE TRAINING CAMP - IRON FRONT FOR ARMA3 (IFA3). This is currently at Version 1.2 (April 2015) and is freely offered to the wider Arma community for whatever use it sees fit. The intention is to allow familiarity with the weapons, vehicles and other gear made available by the conversion of 'Iron Front' game assets into Arma3 i.e. WW2 Soviet, US and German equipment, weapons, uniforms and vehicles. - - - - Note: This map is closely based on its 'sister' an FFE Training Map for standard Arma3 equipment which is also freely published on Steam.

MODS & SCRIPTS: The map requires installation of the IFA3 enabling mod (NB this can be a bit of a pig, but experience shows this is best undertaken using the 'Play With Six' launcher ... google-it!). Purchase and install of the 'Iron Front' game from Steam is highly recommended. Other useful scripts are built-into the mission e.g. VAS ammo-boxes with BIS 'Virtual Arsenal' loadout menu & Virtual Vehicle Spawners (VVS). The whole also works with most other basic gameplay enhancing mods (e.g. MCC Sandbox, STHUD, TFR and JSRS). Map has known conflicts with ACE3 via Farooq's 'FAR revive' medical script; I may release an ACE3 compliant version (removing Farooq) when the uber-mod is fully launched if any interest for this alternative is shown?

FACTIONS: Play as either OPFOR (Russian), BLUFOR (German) or INDEPENDENT (USA) factions in basic infantry Fireteam roles. This is a sandbox/testbed for Iron Front Arma kit, no set missions... just make up your own fun with the available toys. NOTE: All Factions loathe each other and will shoot on sight (even US and USSR).

ZEUS: The training Map is fully Zeus enabled BUT Zeus is ONLY playable with the BLUFOR (German) character (Alpha 2-1) 'Janitor'. ALL playable characters (regardless of faction) plus all in-mission vehicles can be interacted with by the Zeus/Janitor player.

TOYS: Playable examples of ALL key vehicles in Russian, German and US WW2 arsenal . Shoot at targets at the main Firing Range (between 100m and 1,200m), or try the Armour Range near the CAS Air Base at the main airport. Practice CQB at the 'Fish & Chips' facility. Try artillery, or even landing craft... and there are also map annotations and a navigation hub to assist in 'UO' inspired map reading exercises. Also thrown in as a freebie for player familiarity are some IFA trenches, foxholes, bunkers and minefields (though are dummy mines - shame!).

DEATH: A simple in-game revive script (allowing ANY role, not just a medic) to heal or drag is available, though time-out death or suicide options will cause a respawn back at your chosen faction's Base.

NAVIGATION: Striped sentry boxes act as Magic Teleports to move individuals around the map, simply mouse-scroll over the WC and select your destination.

ORIENTATION: Set on Altis, the 3 x Base Camps on the main salt flat at Almyra provide unique equipment and assets used by the German, US and Russian forces of WW2. All vehicles are 'empty' and can be crewed by any faction, and all will respawn after destruction. The Airfield at the centre of the salt flat holds all aircraft from all sides. On demand vehicle spawns (VVS) are found at major hubs - check the in game map. VAS boxes and and BIS 'Virtual Arsenal' are accessible from red container crates at all key locations. Small crates nearby are default (i.e. incomplete) re holdings.

YES I DO KNOW: Hesco barriers and other paraphernellia of the later 20th Century in this map are NOT contemporary with the WW2 era equipment (though I have lately updated some key areas with barbed wire). There are also some known bugs (e.g. some vehicles are silent running) but most problems are primarily 'Iron Front' compatability issues with Arma3 itself. If you *really* want absolute accuracy... do it yourself ... read a book ... or go boil your head (*sigh* life really is too short).

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: Firstly and vitally to 'kju' for his work in making Iron Front assets available in Arma3 as the inspiration for this map. To Tonic for his VAS (Virtual Ammobox System), Virtual Vehicle Spawner (VVS), Champ-1's 'CH view distance script', Skippy and his 'Team Roster' script, 2ndLt M. Smith (51st MEU Arma community) and the original inspiration of his 'MP Clan Training map', to Sgt Donado/MrPiipe (15th MEU SOC Realism Unit) and his 'MP CQB Training Facility', Farooq for his elegant 'FAR Revive' script... and not least to 'United Operations' for making their unparalleled Arma training material available to all. Lastly (not least) my huge thanks to fellow clan members at FFE (most especially glennog - not just for his tidy whiteboard-slide script) in suffering my painfully basic enquiries about all things Arma, scripts and editing. All errors (and there are many) are of course completely my own.

Have fun. CZ.

PS I may be able to respond to change requests, but hey I'm a busy young thing (and have been for many years)... thank you I'm here all week... tell your friends!

dgreen9786, I haven't done anything with this in a very long time and with various updates to Arma I'm not terribly surprised it doesn't work. I'll get around to this someday. In the meantime I suggest you install IF and just slap down some units in the Arma editor - which at heart is all this mission actually is.

Gabe, (suspect this map will not work) but once-upon-a-time you needed to install IF mod as per instructions in the below comments. However I have a sneaky suspicion this no longer works due to changes with Iron Front itself.

I don't understand how this works..do I go to MP and look for something? If I don't have Iron Front will it work?

OK Thanks! :)

jbu2001 afraid I haven't touched this in (many) months. All I can say is it worked back then, but if in the interim it's become broken I'm afraid that's your lot. It's easy enough to replicte most of this base in the editor yourself though - just slap some sample units down fomr each faction, some targets, empty vehicles, various ammo crates and a respawn and off you go. Good luck.
