SPUI (Single point urban interchange)

Description
A single point urban interchange is similar in form to a diamond interchange, but has the advantage of allowing opposing left turns to proceed simultaneously by compressing the two intersections of a diamond into one single intersection over or under the free-flowing road. (Wikipedia)

I alse made another, longer version:

Mhh. That'll bring a lot of problems:
1. Short ramps, backing traffic easily up onto the highway.
2. Missing the right turm slip lanes, a SPUI mormally uses, making it very inefficient when people are turning to the right and also makes a useful traffic light imppssible.

It'll only work, if there's no need for an interchange in the first place ...

My city, Norman, OK, added one two years ago at the Main St., I-35 intersection. It works like a charm!

I wonder why more interchanges couldn't be like this in cities, would save so damn much space and be 100 times more efficient traffice and time wise. I central light in the middle, time the lights and you can exit one side then the other, its perfect.
