Castle Valley

Description
Based on terrain from Castle Valley, Utah.

Lots of flat land for city building with the added challenge of trying to link the ridge to the valley floor.

Rail connections in the NE and SE corners.
Highway connection in the NE.

In that case, you should use the decorative sand that comes in the game and brush the whole map with it.

I thought about doing that but it was still too grassy for my liking.
Here is what the location looks like. [upload.wikimedia.org]
I'm not overly concerned about map balance because I crafted this map to fit a particular aesthetic, maybe if someone mods in different ground textures I'll reconsider.

I do agree with you on correction mods though, the default ones do not quite capture the proper look for the american southwest.

Don't do that. It throws the map balance out of whack, and the visual end result is underwhelming.

Instead, you can recommend a color correction mod to use in conjunction with this map. There's a way to set it up so that when someone hits the subscribe button, a list of "required" mods pops up. Or you can just put a link to the color correction mod of your choice in the description.

Here's one possible color correction mod you can plug: Hot Autumn - https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=416282587

The oil is there more for aesthetics than as an actual harvestable resource. Since land with oil has a rocky airid look to it thats why it is everywhere. (Since this region sees very little rainfall most of the year) The location this is based off of has very little to offer beyond some basic agricultre so it is best to just ignore oil completely.

That's... a lot of oil.

Do you think you can make the resource distribution just a tad more realistic, probably?
