Concealable auto-shotguns, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Saiga
By Kriegs
Have you ever just wanted to sprint around the map delivering pelleted death to everything with a badge? Do you enjoy crouching in chokepoints on Deathwish and single-clicking everything until it stops twitching? If you lose all your health by mistake to that lone HRT on the other end of the map do you want the world to know your impotent rage at the nature of existence? Do you harbor an unhealthy grudge towards the R key on your keyboard? Maybe now you'll have some semblance of a chance of satisfying every sort of grievance you have with this buggy mess of a game!

Auto-shotguns are satisfying as hell. I jumped out of my skin when the BBQ pack added the AA-12. Finally I won't have to waste points in technician to make an auto-shotgun actually viable. Only issue was, that blocky hunk of plastic makes me stick out like a sore thumb! I took a look back at the saiga, maybe the 7rnd mag isn't that bad. Screwed around with builds here and there until I found one that satisfies everything I look for in a Fugitive Enforcer, while giving me the opportunity to use this slavic beauty.

Introduction, or why you need to reconsider whatever subpar/offensively meta build you currently run

Let's do some math here. The way i mod it i'm getting 59.5 damage as a base. Throw in underdog basic and that shoots to 68.425, bam DW 61 breakpoint already. Now get your combo up, with overkill active you hit 119, holy coochflaps batman another DW breakpoint! Now you're one-headshotting grays. Is that not enough for you? Well, your broke ass just got downed by a cloaker and your teammates decided you're worth the effort of picking off the ground. 10% health, berserker comes in, and with the combo going, you're dealing 191 damage! OH SNAP SON SOUNDS LIKE ANOTHER BREAKPOINT. Tans go bye-bye. Then, just think that 30% of the time you're getting crits on top of that! This kills the swat team. Do raw numbers redirect blood flow into your pasty, cobwebbed pissnozzle? Then the IZHMA12G is your kind of weapon!
DLCs/Frames of mind you will need
Is your mommy too poor to buy you the Shotgun pack? Get a McJob and slomp on that ♥♥♥♥ sucka.

Are you at least V-100? If not then go back to streaming youtube bait like FN@F:kids react edition to a grand total of three people, or grind. Find friends (I know it's hard) and rush the ♥♥♥♥ out of shadowraid until you're not useless.

Now for how you need to think when playing:

See this motherhumping fuccboi? He is the bane of your existence. You better turn up the volume on your dollar store earbuds and listen for the voicequotes, otherwise you're in the middle of the street on Day 1 Hoxout spazzing out like an autistic 11-year old at a Sonic convention, praying your brain-dead teammates might deign to lend a hand.

Can you count? I hope those years the teachers fast-tracked you through elementary school stuck something worthwhile inside your noggin. Seven. Seven shells. One more than enough to kill anything that moves. Congratulations, you have earned the codename Shotgun Ocelot. This reload is exhilarating. You're pretty good, etc. kill me
Count your shots as you single-click them and reload when it's clear/when you take cover. It's also better to reload before emptying the mag, it's faster to not have to load in the first shell.

This playstyle is all about the combo. Keep in mind the damage numbers so you know how much buckshot to gracefully introduce to a cop's face. First, activate underdog. It's not hard. Overkill active? Greys get one-shotted. Overkill+Berserker active? All basic cops one-shotted. Nothing active? Start a combo off an HRT or Blackcop, or twoshot a grey. See a shield? Kill a cop and switch to the Judge, overkill applies to HE as well and it only takes one round per shield. It's very important to stick to single shots. Keep your trigger discipline or you'll wind up whining in the comments section about running out of ammo every two seconds.

Finally, Swan Song is fun. You die. You can murder the entire map while holding down left click. Berserker gives the full 100% during it. Need I say more?
The Setup (skills)
If i've managed to convince you to try it and not just funpost >28downs, here's how the build is set up. pardon the image quality oh god how did i get here i am not good with computer prntsrcn+mspaint is mai waifu

Skill builds-
Mastermind:
Just basic endurance. [VGTG]

Enforcer:
This is your bread and butter. Your cheese and crackers. Your cardboard and dumpster-spaghetti.

-Tier 1-3 is pretty standard, your underdog and shotgun/stunres skills so you deal damage adequately/don't turn into Helen Keller
-Shotgun CQB for the reloads. You'll be doing this a lot. Maybe you'll actually start to enjoy it! you won't
-Aced ammo, so your team doesn't run out after you sweep up all the ammo boxes
-Berserker Aced™, this makes the tiny baby capitalist damage into REAL SOVIET DAMAGE
-Overkill basic: see above.

Ghost:
Basic fast-going. Ever notice how Saiga sounds like Sega?

Fugitive:
The fine wine to your bread and butter. The caviar to your cheese and crackers. The stagnant gutter-water to your cardboard and dumpster-spaghetti.

-Tier 1-3 Has HB aced, D&C aced, and runandgun basic. Everything else is filler and personal preference. I like R&G aced, sue me.
-SwanSong Aced. Everything dies, including you.
-SBLB aced. The build puts you at 23 detection risk, this gives you the full benefit of critdodge.
-Bullseye basic. If the berserker techforcer needs bulletproof/ictv to stay off the ground, you need this.

Uses the rogue deck for the 40 base dodge and fast weapon switch.

Other options to consider for personal preference:

No aced ammo gives you 8 points to put in places like cat burgler and cleaner, fully loaded basic, nerves of steel in tech, and pumping iron for still dealing damage in a pinch. No ammo basic can give you even more options, but this is starting to get very selfish. Also instead of Ammo, first aid kits can be an option if you really want, but this screws over berserker and stretches the points thinner elsewhere. I encourage switching it up depending on what you value most of all, but the skills i mention specifically are basically non-negotiable for the build to be effective.
The Setup (equipment)
Have i fellated the Saiga enough yet? (btw it's the IZHMA12G)

This setup gives you the best concealment for damage. All damage boosts possible while still hitting under 23. If you can't reliably get Underdog to activate, maaaaaaybe consider using 000 buckshot to ensure you hit the 61 breakpoint, but that reduced total ammo and the pickup penalty might see you clinging to the ammo bags more often. It also reduces the total number of in-game pellets, making reliable headshots just a bit harder. I tend to prefer the basic ammo.

Your secondary, for shields, dozers, and large groups during Swan Song.

Again, best damage/conceal. King's crown gives you bonus accuracy which is nice for HE, but can also be swapped out if you have a particular fondness for a melee weapon at >28 concealment.

OTHER OPTIONS

This build is nothing if not flexible. Dual shotguns are fun as ♥♥♥♥ on maps like Big Oil or Hoxout day 2, but then the host decides he hates himself and buys the contract for something like white xmas or Bomb: forest. Counter-sniping with a 6-accuracy HE judge barely trumps banging my head on a piano until i accidentally manage to play Beethoven's Ninth on my list of things i enjoy doing. So, other options for when you can't hit the broad side of a barn more than 20m away:

Primary:
14-concealment Mosin-Nagant
High-conceal Raven
High-conceal Assault rifle, like Clarion or Car-4
Concealed GL40, hell even the Piglet if Saiga reloads just aren't doing it for you anymore

Secondary:
Non-HE judge
28-concealment Loco
Pff, maybe even an SMG if you're feeling ballsy

Try to include something that can penetrate shields in your combo, either HE or Sniper rifle. At it's core this is really just a careful Fugitive Enforcer build, and is flexible enough to be catered to whatever heist you pick.

guys how do i end steamguides i've never done this before
I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tired of using the same old meta ♥♥♥♥ everytime i see four skulls instead of three, it's not even fun anymore. Equipping akimbo bernettis makes me feel dirty and the Thanatos-Loco combo drains my soul from the inside-out. Saigafug is some of the most fun i've had with this game recently, it adds in unique challenges to the playstyle, but also obscene strengths i need to take a step back from everytime that victory screen pops up. Try the build. Or don't, maybe you actually still enjoy your 200th heist whipping out a Car-4. The point isn't to make the OMG BEST BUILD EVER it's to make something that keeps the game fresh after 500 hours.

Long story short: crouch or sprint everywhere, count your shots, listen for tasers, and most importantly stick to cover. Once you hit that berserker sweet spot, you'll be unmatched in terms of raw damage output and chokepoint defense. Don't use this if you're still new.

DRILL THE COMBO INTO YOUR HEAD. COMBO IS LOVE, COMBO IS LIFE

The author thanks You for your guide. Saiga still continues to be a great weapon on Death Wish.

not a fan of saiga with 7 bullets.
instead of kings crown for judge i´d go with shark theet + flechette ammo. less range problems.
with dodge HE isn´t that needed (for shields) since u can just jump around them till they stop turning.
overall pretty decent with much less wasted points in comparison to most other guides.

endurance... meh, not really that useful

Hello friend!

Now, it needs to be said that for the most part I couldn't stop laughing at the beginning reference to Dr. Strangelove and secondly I vastly enjoy the idea you've created here. The whole idea of breaking the meta to create a new way to play is honestly something that I love to see other people trying to do. I'm not exactly a 'famous' Payday guide creator, or really a 'famous guide creator' in general. 50 dodge isn't exactly a LOT, but 50% can be quite forgiving if you're just a lucky bastard. I think the main idea in the end though, is the idea of "not being shot at all" above all else. Sometimes movement to flank and take out snipers is much better than sitting there and becoming very dried out and crusty swiss cheese.
