I'm all 100% agree with ya'. Their option to avoid content they don't like, but seems they just don't see any reason to avoid (for them, mostly. what a shame for them, though.). They just, say... Spill all rage out and only then they manage to not get back. Magical...

Eh-heh, a little long story, but I'll try to shorten it to main points. Main requirement, as I think, is knowledge of Source engine, even a little bit, as also QC scripting.
First - model. Resources and QC script. Latter connects resources into one model with bones, face flexes and it's own look. But it's not a end... We still have one thing to do.
Second - materials. Model without materials don't look right, so we do this. This part is a little more easy than first - if you know Photoshop, when you ready to do textures. This also includes working with vmt files, but this not any hard.
After this procedure model is ready to be used. For me, it takes from day to week to finish model, depends on complexity of OC(Coat drawings, for example).
I don't know if you might understand it, but what's how this works...
