Northern Alberta, Canada

Description
A map for the great white north. I have made some design decisions here which alot of you probably wont agree with but I felt necessary for a true northern Alberta map:

- The highway has no offramp to start - northern Alberta started on dirt roads and later single lane highways. Many smaller communities have the main highway become their mainstreet. I wanted to mimic this as closely as I could.

- Only 2 highway access & rail points. It would be unreasonable to believe that 3 highways would intersect at a new town on this map.

- You start with a rail connection. Rail was the backbone to settling towns in northern Alberta. Now if only we had some grain elevators....

{edit - turns out we made one.... https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=439556046}

- Train tracks actually cross the highway! - again, this is quite common as our population is vastly spread out and overpasses in smaller communities could not be justified. Halting highway traffic flow for a 50-car train is not out of the ordinary.

I hope this maps proves fun for everyone. I enjoy starting with the above frustrations and then creating the infrastructure in time to overcome the issues, as many cities in northern Alberta have. It always bothered me that a new town had a massive off ramp system as it seemed unreasonable.

Any questions or comments are always welcome!

Looks a lot like the area around the Beaver River, except they pulled the tracks up all the way back to Wasketenau so many years ago.

Lloydminster reporting in. Always great to see local content! I work away from home a lot in northern Alberta and am excited to see this map!

Thanks @SMD. I would definately say this map would work well with multiple independant towns on one map. With the simple highway system compared to most maps I find I think you will find that aspect rather realistic.

Wow sounds amazing just the type of thing I was looking for, can't wait to try it out. Would you say this map is suitable for small-sized towns spread out far from each other? But anyway awesome work really. :)
