-OLD- Vindolanda Roman Fort -OLD-

Description
This was my original 2015 version of Vindolanda. I've just put up a new one, which plays at 100% Sim Speed and looks/runs waaaaaay better. Check it out! https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=687444958

Thanks! The diagonal buildings are a real pain. You have to place the walls dynamically. So you hover a wall over where you want it to be, then hit "J", and then you can rotate it any direction. The trick is to get the first wall or two to settle in without exploding. Once you have a couple walls in place, you can build the rest. The character tools are from an older mod.

wow, this is pretty cool man. just 2 questions: how did you get the roof of the farm building just outside of the fort diaganol like that? and how do you place character tools like you did?

Thank you much for that Tepic! The site really got under my skin too, the first time I ever dug there. It's an amazing thing, being able to try to recreate it. 2 months in, and I'm still enjoying the heck out of it.

I was amazed when I found this. I absolutely love the site and go up there every year to see it progress.

Your recreation really brings it to life! Thank you!

Big thanks to both of you. Supplicant, I'm psyched that you're here from ArmyTalk. That's such a great board & fab people. LordSnow, I feel your pain re loading the world. I thought I had a decent computer until I started playing Medieval Engineers. Now with only 1/4 of Vindolanda's buildings kitted out I'm already slowed to a crawl. Even so, it's a lot of fun trying to bring it to life. I'd love to see what you put together.

Although i'm still struggling to actually load the world, the effort and dedication that has gone in to this is truly stunning! Vindolanda really is a beautiful site, and from one archaeologist to another, you couldnt have picked a better site to emulate, though i'm thinking of doing the same on a few local sites, most of them will have to be best guesses, as bareley any evidence turned up and very few reports were detailed enough to be of help.

Wow what a great video Karavin, thank you for the showcase! I'll definitely spread the word. I think history as a playground & gaming world can be such a cool new way to reach a huge group of people.
