Olongo Peak

Description
Welcome to Olongo Peak! This map features resource-rich tropical island territory surrounding a small mountain, complete with realistic cliffs, beaches, and sandbars.

About Olongo Peak

Olongo Peak is the 543rd highest mountain in the Philippines[en.wikipedia.org], located in northern Palawan island[en.wikipedia.org], the largest island in the province of Palawan[en.wikipedia.org], which encompasses the long, thin string of islands on the western side of the country.

Palawan is a prized tourist destination in the Philippines, and its biodiversity has been protected for decades. Despite its popularity with tourists, the island is still mostly undeveloped.

Gameplay Notes

- The mountain and thin connections between the land masses naturally segregate your city into distinct regions.

- It's pretty much required to use a 25-tile mod to make the most of this map. Because the land doesn't follow the provided grid, you'll need to unlock at least 20 tiles to make use of the available land. Only 25% of the area is buildable, you'll need it all!

- Despite the small percentage of building area, it's still possible to expand a city into a megalopolis.

- Most of the sections of land are thin, so it's recommended that you hug the mountain or cliffs with your highways so you don't waste space on on/off ramps on both sides of the highway (see the screenshots for an example).

- The coasts are realistic, meaning they aren't just one gigantic strip of sand, so you'll have to be selective where you place your passenger/cargo docks to make them look good. That doesn't mean there isn't ample opportunity to take advantage of water transportation, though!

- You'll most likely have to edit the existing highways outside of the starting tile to make room for additional on/off ramps.

- Half of the 250,000 trees are still available to place.

Feedback is always welcome! Enjoy!
