Highland Fjord Temperate Version

Description
This is the Temperate version of the original map found here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=430690083

A little bit of Norway. A wee bit of Scotland. A whole lot of scenery.

Real hightmap painstakingly altered to provide 360 degrees of realistic, beautiful background scenery every way you turn, as well as a pleasant, very playable main game area with some interesting terrain features.

Much more than just a map!
- Center play areas smoothed out for lots of useable space
- Several overlook hills in main play area to perch a castle, statue, or whatever else you dream up!
- Airplane flight paths are programmed so planes circle over the main play area. Click follow on a plane, go to camera mode and enjoy the sights!
- Trees concentrated only in central valley play area to
1) be easier on your computer's graphics
2) simulate the look of rugged highland areas
3) leave free TONS of space until you reach the "maximum number of trees" (map has 40,500 out of a max of 250,000). Go ahead, place lots of trees! They can help make windy mountain roads and hilltop villages look great!

- Plenty of room for those who use the standard 9 square areas! Users of "all areas purchasabl" mods will benefit from the low memory load design and the few additional challenging areas in the perimeter. Several mountain ranges have narrow smoothed valleys allowing winding roads to link to perimeter areas.

Please let me know if you have any input, desired changes, additions, etc.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I am!

And here you go, @JeffisOrange! It looks SO much more beautiful than in the... not so attractive temperate landscape. I think I will have to play it as well, it is really different with many more adventures possible. Have fun and post some screen shots if you have time! https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=456163959

Sweet man. I was so excited to see all your cool maps after taking a long break from this game. Keep up the amazing work!

Hey @JeffisOrange, I'm doing a ton of work on it to make it really great, adding all the things I've learned along the way. Should be done tonight (European Time) or tomorrow.

Funny you should ask, I thought about that last night. Happy to do so!

Can you please make a european version of this map?

Hey @aubergine18, I just uploaded the new map, and I want to thank you for the ideas you contributed to it! It has the ability to have a 1600 MW hydro dam (lol!) and I used the resource as paint, but in a very different way. Also, I included islands in the mist ;) Thanks again for these great ideas, and I hope you share your map, too!

Glad to oblige, @Ozymandias. I feel the same way, which is why I create these maps for myself. It's even more fun to share them!

Ah, the Temperate version! Thank you uploading this. I'm usually very (very) picky about my base map. After all, who wants to spend countless hours on a boring map? But this map looks like one I can use many times. Thanks again, Sartiblartfast would be proud.

@aubergine18 I saw some images of maps from Stronghold2, looked amazing! It'd be great to have more textures: I would be making little Irish fields on this new map with a hundred varieties of green ;). It is pretty good, though... at least when we put in water pipes it doesn't warp the land like in Sim City. That got annoying

Yup, I long for more textures and ideally terrain tint tools in the map editor. Best map editor I ever saw was in a game "Stronghold 2" - the gameplay was somwhat broken, but the map editor was epic in terms of the level of customisation you could do.
